Polling Cards Payments

So, covered a duty today because of sickness. Loads of polling cards to be delivered and someone said 'make sure you get paid for those' before disappearing. I didn't feel comfortable asking the full timer I was with about what that meant and know better than asking management.

I've done a quick search on here and it appears that payments are or were a thing. As a reserve covering a duty for a day am I due anything? Or does it belong to the duty holder?

Or was the person who walked past me just stirring things up?

You should receive a payment for polling cards. Think it varies from 3 to 6p per item. You need to speak to your manager or union rep and make sure you claim for them as I am pretty sure the duty holder will do so if you don't!

Yep. You should have counted them. We get 4.65p each but this is a local agreement. You maybe entitled to more.

If they came stamped 2nd class you will not be getting paid for them

we once had some mixed, 1 for a by-election and some for general with 2 different postage used,
they actually tried saying the ones not royal mail stamped were 1st class and must all be delivered that day

soon changed their tune when loads said sod the extra payments and i'm cutting off

We were told the other week that payments for election materials & poll cards have been stopped. Probably part of what of some us just voted yes on.

Delivery Unit Payments

• A unit payment is made at the appropriate local rate for ALL poll cards delivered (as per the 2005 agreement, amended in 2009 and 2011) no matter what service has been selected (Retail, DSA, PCMO)
• There should be no extended delivery overtime paid for delivery of poll cards

Note: If you are uncertain as to the unit payment amount for employees for each item, please contact your Regional Head of Special Events

• A line listing will be available to check poll card volumes for each walk if PCMO has been used
• Count all poll cards before they are delivered to ensure correct payment is made to employees
• The volume recorded against each delivery person must be converted into a payment amount using the agreed unit payment rate (use calculating spreadsheet EPD 5.1a for this task - cell M3 must be completed with the applicable unit rate to ensure correct payments are calculated
• Enter the value of the payment (£p, not number of items) due to each employee into PSP

I was given that info from the union. So unless it can be renegotiated, which can & does happen, then we will not be receiving the extra payments we have had in the past.

overtime can be booked if you show a manager your frame before putting poll cards in that you will be over anyway,
obviously you can't then put the lot in and book a further 2hrs, you agree the overtime before based on the usual traffic

Asked, gained surprised looks that I was asking and then welcomed into the inner sanctum of polling card payments

Getting increasingly incredulous at the amount of stuff you have to find out for yourself. This place really is a godsend.
