I have parked my royal van in a crossing area marked by zigzags and therefore i got a ticket(65 pounds).
My question is:I have to pay the ticket by myself as my manager told me or the royal mail will pay the half of it?

I was told off a parking attendant about 2 years ago, as I was parked where they had wheel clamping in progress, that they are not allowed to ticket RM or any other vehicle with the queens crown on it. He let me park with no problems every day!weara wrote:I have parked my royal van in a crossing area marked by zigzags and therefore i got a ticket(65 pounds).

That's interesting if it's correct. I've worked with a couple of posties who seem to think we're completely exempt from traffic laws in a RM van. One drove up a one way street to deliver an overweight because he couldn't be arsed to drive round the block and come down the correct entry.Pacific wrote:I was told off a parking attendant about 2 years ago, as I was parked where they had wheel clamping in progress, that they are not allowed to ticket RM or any other vehicle with the queens crown on it. I was cringing in the passenger street, especially when he wound down his window to call out "Royal Mail!" to a bemused driver coming the other way that had to take evasive action.

Not allowed on zig zags and red routes, with yellow lines it depends on whether you are causing a disruption to traffic I believe?Pacific wrote:I was told off a parking attendant about 2 years ago, as I was parked where they had wheel clamping in progress, that they are not allowed to ticket RM or any other vehicle with the queens crown on it. Exactly what judges said. The union used to pay driving/parking tickets when I was mail centre driver at GMC but maybe its changed.

In the words of the traffic warden I spoke to a few years back regarding parking my van on the pavement outside a drop "you don't f#@k with the crown man". He told me he could get sacked for ticketing a RM vehicle. In the queens royal mail charter it states nothing shall stop her majesties mail.

Some of you live in a dream world.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

That's correct, completely exempt from all road traffic laws as it was the Queen's mail, but it might have changed since privatisation.crimson king wrote:That's interesting if it's correct. If you dont get three points you have been lucky never park on them or cause an obstruction we are not exempt and we pay the fines. Drivers should be paid more IMO.
