Hi can anybody explain to me why you have to keep chasing money owed by royal mail? Do the managers get some sort of bonus at the end of each month according to money saved?? Waited 4 weeks for my induction day pay, absolutely fuming, manager had lost her tongue so im taking this further, 2hrs 30 mins ot not paid again....

They 'forget' to pay you - you don't notice - happy days , shaved a bit off the budget.

You do notice, damn we'll have to pay it this time, but hey ho they might not notice next time.

No incentive to get it right first time.

They need to invest in electronic “clock in clock out” machines. That way everyone’s pay will be exact & not relying on a so called “manager” to get it right. I see it as a win win for Royal Mail. Cuts out any ghost overtime the bluffers claim & they could get rid of a few pencil pushers in the process.

They already have with the PDAs but the problem is what will they use the data for? Common sense would suggest those getting finished early every day are given extra but if previous revisions are anything to go by everybody gets extra.

The same used to happen to me and others as well,think it is to do with their bonus!! Which is a disgrace!

The sad thing is I believe this is a problem that managers have built up for themselves. It may be as a result of noises coming from above in respect of budgets, but is locally driven as a result of fear of what might happen rather than a means of improving bonus.

Why is it that! Anything that benefits the employee within Royal Mail, you’ve to fight and fallout with people just to receive what should come automatically, but If it benefits the Managerment/business it’s implemented immediately?

I was moved onto another duty 4 weeks ago, new duty is Sunday nights so now I should be in receipt of Sunday allowance but my line manager who spends more time at work, than at home with tending to 3 kids still hasn’t filled in some form to inform HR of this.

I wouldn’t mind but when you’re pt that Sunday allowance should make a difference to my weekly wage.

You should mind. It is your entitlement and should be automatic. Why does Royal Mails payroll system not make the adjustment immediately? It is ridiculous to rely on any line manager to have the savvy to carry out all the functions when an adjustment is made to a job role.

Sorry about jumping the thread... Can anyone say if you automatically get your 50p rise when you've been working 6 months or do you have to was longer?

Yes, it’s applied automatically. Same with the 12 month increase. (You’ll see difference in your pocket with the 6 month increase. However, when your 12 months in your pension contributions automatically go up from 1% to 5% (Soon to be 6%) so you won’t see the difference in your pocket. This caught me out.

Your weekly pay rate will increase on your payslip, otherwise its difficult to spot.
