Multiple Sickness

I have phoned it sick with a foot injury and have 7 days sickness leave , but i have caught a stomach bug . Would this be classed as one absence as i never returned to work?

I have a gp note for sickness bug

Yes has you have not had a back to work meeting you will still be down has sick until you return

Sorry to hijack this thread, but if someone were to return to work for about a week and then go off sick again without a return to work between absences, can they count it as 2 separate as procedure hasn't been followed?

Yes as a return to work isn’t compulsory.

No, each absence will count separately.

• Following any period of absence, an informal Welcome Back meeting will be held between the employee and their manager, ideally on the first day back

The use of "informal" makes it outside the formal part of the procedure, and also means a quick "how are you mate" at the frame could qualify as a "Return to work" meeting.

What about coming back to work and expecting star meeting then going back off.
Get the same stage once back?

If you have triggered a stage review but it hasn't occurred then the 2nd absence isn't counted for any subsequent review. At least that's how it worked under the old system, I am not 100% certain if the same applies to this new Attendance Agreement.
