Ban low letterboxes in the UK on new build

I would like to see the UK Government amend building regulations & ban low letterboxes as has been the case in Ireland Since January 1st 2001

Letterboxes should be postman friendly..Low boxes can cause serious injury when you have quite a few in a row or on a round whilst carrying a sack of mail.
Even just one low letterbox is one too many.. You wouldn't put the keyhole down there so why put the letterbox down there.

Agree and just signed.
Why stop at only new builds ?. On my round it seems that each time somebody has a new front door on an existing property the trend is to have a low letterbox. Anybody else experienced this ?.

Yup.

And I've mentioned that low level letterboxes are a pain for posties, on any advertisment for new doors I've seen on social media!

Towns Improvement Clauses Act 1847
Section 64

Houses to be numbered and streets named.
The commissioners shall from time to time cause the houses and buildings in all or any of the streets to be marked with numbers as they think fit, and shall cause to be put up or painted on a conspicuous part of some house, building, or place, at or near each end, corner, or entrance of every such street, the name by which such street is to be known; and every person who destroys, pulls down, or defaces any such number or name, or puts up any number or name different from the number or name put up by the commissioners, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £25 for every such offence.

also I have zero respect for people who have lived in the same house for years and then buy a new door for their house with a low letterbox on it
