Part timers being made up to Full time criteria

In our office we have managed to get some part time contracts turned into full time. Now there are going to be more part timers who want full time than there are contracts available (maybe a 2:1 ratio). What criteria should be used to decide who gets these contracts? Is it seniority, hours worked,length of time in this particular office( we have had 2 people recently transfer in with quite long service)? Be interested to hear from others who’ve seen this happen in their office.

Quite right, seniority is the only answer. And it doesn’t matter if they have only just transferred in. As long as the transfer has been completed their seniority counts.

Wrong and wrong if someone transfer into your office from anotber office they cannot be given full time and there is a cooling off period of 12 months. Also the new deal states hours worked to be reviewed. Senority soon wont count for s**t and who gets contracts and quite rightly so

In any event the agreement currently out to ballot does not do away with seniority whatsoever, nor does it replace any aspect of the current resourcing agreements the union has in place, including the opportunity of individuals to apply for a full time duty when these become available.

I think it is disingenuous (at best) of the union to state that a part timers hours will be reviewed.
They won't. Nobody's individual hours will be reviewed.
The hours the office is using will be reviewed and "if appropriate" extra hours will be put in.

this is also wrong,
we had a guy transfer in FT who i had 5 years on, i complained why the most senior PT currently in office didn't get it, and why was it never advertised, the cwu sent 2 reps in, dragged me in a room and said it was 100% correctly done, even though neither knew how, they tried to belittle me as if i had done something wrong by complaining, i felt like asking my dom in for support at 1 stage!

whats meant to happen now with part timers who work 40+ hours most weeks, and on different duties every day.?

also with new changes would it be better to work at a smaller office than a big one, so might get better contract ?

weve had several part timers made up to permanent full time since xmas.....possibly 6 in and office of about 50.

from next week all remaining part times move on to 30 hours I think some were 27.5 hrs.
then they will be coming into work at diff starting times depending on the day...ie tues start time 930....weds 730

The amount of hours overtime worked is irrelevant.

Same thing is happening in our office, but what about floaters that cover full timers when they're off?
