32 years, done and dusted

Well, after 32 and a half years in RM, and now aged 61, mostly as a postman, few years in the middle as a deputy manager, my time is up. i have been paid off on IHR with a frozen shoulder. Already been off sick with it quite a few months, so it was the logical conclusion. Already my knees are better, hip is better, and foot pain has gone, just the shoulder now, but that'll heal eventually. I feel sorry for the younger ones starting now, i think us older ones enjoyed the better times. Good luck to all of you, and don't let the bastards grind you down.

Yes we did have good times in the past, only another 15 years to go for me. Good luck and try and stay in bed until 9

Congratulations, 32 years is some achievement in this job. I also feel sorry for those starting now. No chance of a decent pension at 67 let alone 60.
Yes it is great to not wake up with shock when the rain is p.ssng down and all you have to do is roll over for another 30 minutes or so.

I'll reach 32 years in a couple of months but unfortunately i'm nowhere near retirement another 16 years if i last the full whack

It would be nicer to say 9 years until i get the full pension i was promised when i first started.

Good luck and enjoy your retirement, i left almost 3 years ago but luckily got VR and a nice payout and was just glad to get out and as others have said i feel sorry for the youngsters who have many hard working years ahead of them to get a decent pension

I left on VR after 32 years too. I'm feeling 10 years younger now, without the stress. Enjoy your retirement, you have earned it.

Health Before Wealth is my motto, it seems like you were suffering so this is a good result for you. Unfortunately for many staring down the barrel of another 10-20 years as a Postie it'll probably be neither Health or Wealth at the end of it.

Thank you all for your best wishes. For the most of it, enjoyed my time in Royal mail. Made some really good friends, and being able to be at home with my kids when they were pre school, and being home for when they came back from school, was fantastic. Now, i can be at home for my grandson, and any future ones, and have much more leisure time, apart from when the Mrs and my kids have diy jobs lined up for me. Best wishes everyone.
