We had 2 snow days. Friday and sat. Each time we made it to the office and signed in but told to go home as no work to do.

I've been working overtime every day this week. My manager has said that I won't be paid overtime but it will go towards the hours they are clawing back.

I said to him "what about the full timers who are finishing before their time still. Do they need to do overtime to pay back hours"

He then said everyone is doing overtime (they are not, I've asked around)

What can I do? It seems wrong and I feel descriminadted against

This is a point i have raised but manger AND rep both say different. how can i contest that when the rep is on the managers side

This is basic employment law. If you’re told to go home early and not told at the time they wish to claw back then they can’t claw back.

Or easier don’t do any overtime until they say they will pay you

If you made it in to work and were sent home then you must be paid in full.

If there is no other work available or the office is closed due to worsening weather conditions, employees may be allowed to go home early and there will be no requirement to make up the time.

Where an employee has responsibility for the upbringing of a child and has to remain at home unexpectedly due to the closure of a school or nursery due to adverse weather, this should be treated in line with the Royal Mail Group Other Time Off (Special Leave) Policy.

Which means you could at least get 1 day special leave, you could push for that as well to wind em up.

Your rep needs to be binned, you got sent home therefore entitled to a full days pay. Get an area rep involved.

This clawback of hours has made my mind up for me. I'm voting No! Change of culture my arse! Not heard of any other employer trying this on. Union have just gone along with it.

im gonna guess the rep made a deal with the managers to have people sent home on the snow days as a local agreement. Not saying its right, but thats just what im guessing happened.

Makes me laugh how you are condemning the Rep on the say so of one post. The rep is not on here to defend himself and to be honest the situation around the severe weather did get confusing. In my area some opg's made no attempt at anything, no call to the office, no attempt to go to nearest office, nothing. Try dealing with that and just for the record no claw back in hours either anywhere in the area.

If you have arrived at delivery office ready to work and then RM send you home, you should get paid from the time you arrived until your finish time. They cannot claw time back, as it was RM decision to send you home. If you didn't arrive at delivery office, then they could claw back pay or take a day from your annual leave entitlement.
