Employee Survey
Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place, so I apologies in advance if i have. I have been working for Royal Mail for 5 years now & each time we do the suvey our office has to give them to our manager to "Special" them away! There is a sheet with our names on & they are ticked off as we hand them back!! Surely this isn't correct!? Does any other office have this procedure?
Thanks in advace

Yes we were all rounded up in the break room to fill them out then as we put them in the bag our DOM ticked our names on the sheet. They pressured everyone into completing them by saying no one was allowed out until their names were ticked off, which made everyone rush through them so they could get on with their delivery. I just left mine blank.

The completion of the Employ Survey is at your discretion and have been given 20 minutes within your shift to complete.
How you return the completed form is also at your discretion and it is not mandatory that these forms be returned to a manager to post.
My personal view is you use your own method for returning survey.

IT came with a pre paid envelope so why not just pop it in the box?

Employee Survey
Thank you for your email to Moya’s JustSayIt Site. I work as part of this team and your email has been shared with me for a response.
Completion of the survey is not mandatory although we would highly encourage all employees to take the opportunity to give their view.
As this is a work-related survey, employees have been allocated time at work (during their WTLL) to complete the survey, rather than expecting employees to fill in their survey at home in their own time. This process of completing the surveys at work is standard practice in many companies.
Each survey should have been given out in an envelope as part of a pack. Each pack contained the survey itself and a pre-paid envelope with Ipsos MORI’s address for returning the survey once completed. Ipsos MORI is an independent research company conducting the survey on RMG’s behalf. All employees can be confident that their answers will be treated in complete confidence. Ipsos MORI promises that surveys will never be linked to an individual. Ipsos MORI is a member of the Market Research Society. As a member, they are bound by its Code of Conduct not to identify individual respondents’ views.
Surveys should not have been handed back to managers without being sealed in the pre-paid/pre-addressed envelope. Managers should collect the sealed packs and return them in bulk via recorded delivery to Ipsos MORI (ideally using the bags that they arrived in). If employees specifically wish to, they can take the survey home and complete it and then return it in the post in the pre-paid and pre-addressed envelope direct to Ipsos MORI.
We ask people to take part in the survey so that they can share their views in a fair and consistent way, we also give people the opportunity to do this in a confidential environment. The survey gives people the chance to say what they want without being concerned about people finding out what they individually said. Also, only by surveying everyone in RMG will we get an overall view of what people think and be able to respond to that at a corporate level.
I hope I have provided some reassurance but please let me know if I can help further.
Kind regards
Jane

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Not everyone for various personal reasons may not wish to participate in the survey,
The real issue here is the fact that the management are directly monitoring and getting staff to sign they've filled it in. Why.
What exactly do they hope to glean by getting staff to sign if they cannot change the outcome.
I have heard of management within other industries intercepting forms and changing them, also filling in empty forms themselves to make up the percentage.
Situations like this should lead to charges of fraud as there's a financial incentive to return all forms.
If a member of staff decides to not participate there's also the potential situation of bullying and harassment occurring later as it's directly related to bonus's.
This could be in the form of special leave requests etc.
The company itself doesn't really have a very good track record on bullying and harassment so is it not like giving bullets for the gun.
In other industries the management do not ask staff to sign the returns form they created so why here?
I get the feeling this has now become a culture thing that's started and needs to be stopped if only to ensure the safeguards outlined above

Most of our office refused to fill them in, we just took them out of their envelope, folded them in half and put them in the return envelope and in a tray provided by the manager who was watching, it's pointless filling them in as nothing is ever done and the crap continues.

Why in god's name do we have to be forced to fill them in with a manager standing over our shoulder? It does not cost RM anything to send them to our houses but you know what it's another bonus criteria for a bonus culture that will never change nor will the B&H to go with it!

Hi
Thanks for all your replys, I didn't fill my in last year either as i think its a waste of time!! I just left it blank & put it in the envelope provided. But I'm wondering if our manager is intercepting them & filling in the blanks on our behalf(maybe i'm just paranoid). Are we supposed to get our individual office results when its all been processed or just an overall result? As we only ever get an overall result. Like groovyghouly said why should we hand them to our manager & why should we sign to say we handed them back?
Can PHG not do it?

Indeed why do we get asked to sign, it's confidential. Everybody who doesn't sign could inadvertently be making targets for themselves... The fact anyone doesn't wish to participate is irrelevant to the outcome only that that percentage has a relevance to the managers bonus.jkarlg wrote:Hi

Our DOM last week called us all in and stated "next week we are doing employee surveys, dont use this opportunity as a yap fest (exact words used), the more problems or issues you bring up the more chance our office will be under the microscope from above." UNREAL. Anyone else experience this ?

Given how busy this week is probably going to be, I'd be surprised if any office does it this week or has work time learninghero22 wrote:Our DOM last week called us all in and stated "next week we are doing employee surveys, dont use this opportunity as a yap fest (exact words used), the more problems or issues you bring up the more chance our office will be under the microscope from above." I've been asked twice this week to fill one in, work time learning? What's that then?
