WHATS RULES ON AGENCY WORKERS?

just like to know if any rules for working with agency workers ,
are they allowed to do specials?
are they allowed to drive?
Are they meant to be put on rounds with people who know the walks?
etc

No matter what the workload is "you've got a casual" means you will easily complete as they are pre-programmed with the area/route and how to do everything and more than a normal lazy postie can ever manage. Of course if they make any mis-deliveries or do anything else wrong, it will all be your fault.

I had to work with one a few months back, he just took the p**s. Told my manager the next day, haven't seen him since.

Last Saturday on my regular partners day off, I was given 2 casuals to take out, 1 who had done 1 previous day and the other who was on his first day. Was careful not to refuse to take them out, but did tell my manager I would not be instructing them in any way as it was there job to manage people, not mine. Was then marched into the office where a heated discussion took place over what my obligations were. I simply asked them to provide a trained person for me to work with and pointed out that we had 2 work place coaches who were being paid approx 1500 pounds a year each to train people.
I had nothing against these 2 guy's, but if mistakes are made we are in the office.

When I went out with one, I gave him all the tracked and specials on his loops. Treated him the same as any other member of staff, wasn't told any different and I'm not a coach.

Why would you want to walk out if you see agency workers aren’t they allowed to earn a living you obviously have no idea how rm is is run there is thousands of agency employed everyday of the week especially in Mail centres and that isn’t ever going to change now,be thankful you have a decent contract if you want to walk out I think you’ll be on your own

Using agency workers at ours, rather than making part-timers up to full time. Cheap fix that's backfired big time as complaints are through the roof. We used to have daily huddles telling us that we've failed a couple of tracked in the whole office..........these have now stopped as there are numerous failures on a daily basis. All since we've started using agency staff. Coincidence?!

No one is justifying agency staff but for someone to suggest that you walk out the gate is absurb. Like in all walks of life, there will be good agency staff and bad ones, just as there is in employed staff.

Wtf is the matter with some of you on here. Your all talking like they are a different species. Best about it is that probably most of the piss takers haven't even reached the dizzy highs of a full time, 39 hr contract. They are just normal people looking to earn money, like we all do. Maybe if a lot of yous took your MR, cut off and did the job properly then the union would be stronger and this s**t wouldn't be happening as they would be made full time. Years ago if you brought a casual worker in he was in for the week. And they got double time on a Sunday. I started as a casual as a helava lot of us did. I don't get the hostility.
