Hate new round

Just picked a new vacant round. I hate it. Can i go back to my old round? Ive heard there is a 2 week grace period. Any help would be great.

Technically no. Once you have selected a new duty you cannot apply for another for 12 months, asking to go back to your old duty could be considered in breach of this.

However, you never know, ask the Manager they may willingly allow you to revert, though they'll probably want their back scratching at some point

And make sure that the A+ for your walk is up-to-date after you've made any changes to the frame, otherwise your sequenced mail will be wrong

At least your vacant duties are being advertised. I'm convinced ours aren't because the DOM doesn't want a PTer having the oppurtunity signing for a FT job

What do you not like about your new round? I usually find giving it a few weeks and tweaking it to suit you helps. Then get to know your customers - they're a pain in the ass at times but get them onside and it makes the job easier.

To 'Weary Posty'. -. Available jobs in RM DOs have to be freely offered/advertised to everyone so FT, PT, and anyone not currently an employee of RM is allowed to apply for OPG jobs.

The short answer is yes you can if it doesn't inconvenience anyone else. So if the postie who has taken on your old walk doesn't mind giving it back then you can.
The long answer. All the walks in our DO were reworked last year then we had a full resign. Another postie with higher seniority signed for my walk because his walk had been radically changed. I didn't like any of the remaining walks but reluctantly decided to sign for his walk. Both walks are largely named houses and are not easy to learn in terms of prepping the mail. By the time we had reached the third day of being on each other's walks neither of us was enjoying the experience. He was getting really angry so I asked if he wanted to swap back to his old walk. He said yes and the DOM didn't have a problem with it so we swapped back on the fourth day.

Something to think about. If there is a walk vacant and there doesn't seem to be a rush or any interest to sign for it beware. It is likely there is something unfavourable about it eg the walk maybe has busy roads or dangerous amounts of vehicle traffic or it has been timed incorrectly and is too long etc.

Edit. It is more important to enjoy whatever job you do than get paid a load of money. So try not to pick a walk you don't like. Of course this isn't always possible but try not to. This is why any changes to working practices are far more important than a supposed 5% pay raise that can be clawed back at a later date. Think before you vote.
