Most Saturdays and often on other occasions all our managers go home early.
This often results in me being the only person in the building as i'm covering the callers office.
There is usually someone out on delivery that is coming back to lock up at some point.

today for example managers all gone home by 12.30. I finish in the callers at 13.30 when someone is due back from delivery to take over in the callers and at 14.00 close and lock up.
Sometimes that person that takes over is not back when i'm due to finish. I have told management more than once that i will not stay past my time and more than once have left the office to go home with a queue of people waiting to be served in the callers and nobody staff in the building to serve them for anything up to 90 minutes. I have also notified IB about this and they have spoken to management.
There is no way the public can get into the building on the staff side, unless they climb over the counter and kick the door in.

My query is are management allowed to do this?
What happens in the event of an emergency?
We have staff still out on delivery and anything could happen.

If they aren't allowed to do this then who do i inform as previously mentioned i have informed IB on more than 1 occasion. The DSM is also aware.

It is now my considered opinion that nobody in RM gives a sh!t about anything.
The law, data protection, health and safety, integrity of the mail - nothing.

It is pointless worrying about it.
You will only make yourself ill.

Oh trust me worrying about it is not something i am doing.

If i'm honest here it's more about ensuring the management are held as accountable for their actions as they want us to be.

This means you are being left as a “lone worker” and any other company I have worked for requires you to sign a risk assessment to say you are happy to be a lone worker. If you aren’t (which I wouldn’t be) then they shouldn’t be leaving you in that position.

mezza mate your sounding like there is only 2 of you working there ???

when you say staff our still out ? how do they get back in the office ??

Look at at it this away if they expect you to do their job demand recompense a duty allowance like work place coach allowance is £1800 but if the s**t hit's the fan you need all management contacts before you go above them it is up to them to in form you!
