Unsuccessful cover manager application

Recieved a response saying my application was unsuccessful due to not meeting the criteria? What criteria is this?

Also how does a guy whos been part time for 6 months go onto start cover managing before a person with 10 years postal experience?

Because the person who has been a postman 6 months hasn’t got a clue how harsh management can be towards postman, and hasn’t experienced how hateful the business can be

Did you do the online behavioural assessment?

If you try to “game” it, and give it responses that you think it wants, rather than the ones that you’d actually do, it knows. Designed by some outside experts no doubt.

Was an internal application where you uplaod a cv and answer four question, one was regarding data, another improvement etc

Seems strange how this guy was managing before the rold was even over

What criteria?

From what I can gather from our wtl they wanted applications from as many as possible. I dont recall our dom saying "don't apply unless you meet the following criteria".

Don't worry about it too much. There was a roleplay practical assessment.

Probably because the guy who got it made a better application? Half the point in Royal Mail going over to this system is to assess and pick people more like a decent commercial company, rather than based on who's the DOM's mate or seniority, which is clearly absurd.

I've applied and all's going well so far, just the interview left this week. Clearly it's because my application and online assessments were good enough, thank god it's not based on some stupid seniority thing, making this whole difficult process pointless.

Just because you have "10 years postal experience" doesn't mean in Royal Mails eyes you'd make a good manager. Our new DoM was a postman for numerous years before and he's wank.

As far as I'm aware, managerial positions have always been appointed by interview and aptitude. A thorough grounding on how the job works at ground level is helpful. I mean God forbid we have someone in charge who is clueless

Medium, not awful but not brilliant, will be a few weeks until I get a decision/feedback.

I'm a bit less hopeful than I otherwise might have been because clearly they're interviewing a hell of a lot of people.
