Bumping a previous Post. Help Needed!

Hi all,

I just wanted to bump a previous post regarding help with the application exercise for Parcelforce drivers. My brother in law was unsuccessful on the last application so dont want to make the same mistake again.

Background
Royal Mail Group offers a number of products to customers. These include: Before 9am: guaranteed to be delivered to customers' addresses before 9am. Before 10am: guaranteed to be delivered to customers' addresses before 10am. Before 12 noon: guaranteed to be delivered to customers' addresses before 12 noon. 48 hour parcels: take 2 days to reach a customer but have no set delivery time.

THE EXERCISE
Planning your delivery route: A number of parcels are stacked inside a wheeled cage next to your van. Your manager confirms that these are your deliveries for the day and that you will be delivering parcels in two postcode areas; TY7 and TY8. The parcel depot is in Broadfield, on a small industrial estate, which is in the TY7 postcode area. You will also deliver to the village of Cainton in the TY8 area and this area is slightly further away. You will be making a number of drops along the way and some of these drops may involve delivering more than one parcel to the same address. In planning your route you should consider multi-drop opportunities and other time saving options for delivery.

Question

From the list below, please select the order of which you would deliver the parcels to the addresses below. ensuring each customer received their parcel at the correct time.

A - Before 12 noon - Jacksons Pet Shop - Lime Street - Cainton TY8 5JU
B - Before 9am - Unit 15 - Redfield Industrial Estate - Broadfield TY7 8UL
C - International - Greens Solicitors - 111 London Road - Cainton TY8 1HG
D - Before 9am - 78 Green Street - Broadfield TY7 9KB
E - 48 hour - Unit 15 - Redfield Industrial Estate - Broadfield TY7 8UL
F - Before 10am - KLP Products - Redfield Industrial Estate - Broadfield TY7 8OS
G - Before 9am - Thomson Ltd - Redfield Industrial Estate - Broadfield TY7 8OP
H - Before 12 noon - 20 Main Road - Broadfield TY7 8TG

The most efficient route I can see is DGBEFHAC .
which takes into account timed deliveries and incorporates any multi drop opportunities.

Can anyone see any improvements or better routes on the choices I have selected.

YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE THE TEST IF YOUR A ROYALMAIL EMPLOYEE.

log on to my royalmail and look apply for vacancies you want bypassing the test

I think I'd agree with you but just thinking it doesn't say so but if the parcel force depot is on the same industrial estate as GBEF then would you do them first on the way out.

Oh yeah is it just me or do you think parcel force are making it over complicated by offering too many products.

The test is not for me, in my OP I stated my brother in law needed the help.

And yes the numerous products must make delivering a royal pain in the ass. A DPD style approach would be much better than the options above. You will be up and down like a blue ass fly lol.

DGBEFHAC is the optimum route. you need to look at the times and the similar post codes to plan the route.
It's a pointless exercise though as they now have software RouteEXcellence that does it for you.
