Does anybody have any idea how long the notice period is for royal mail workers? Ive had enough!

i was told a week when i handed my notice the other week but im on a part time contract(24 hours a week)

A week, thats not long at all. Im on 32 1/2 hours so maybe its different

No,your paid from week to week,so a weeks notice is all you need
to give.

ask your DUM to c how many holidays u have & if u have a lot, take them all, just b4 u tell him to kiss your A**

I thought notice required was proportionate to the number of years worked.

Depends how much you are bothered about the job, if you walk away to start another job there is nothing they can do. Working notice means nothing really.

technically you should give the statutory notice which is 1 week for every years service up to 12 max
however in my experience they usually waive this and let you go as soon as you can as long as its time enough to stop your pay
