Asked our union rep this morning when the next vote is likely to be, he said judging by the negative feedback other union reps are getting around the country it could be mid April . He himself and the general consensus around our office is that it's a big no to the new proposals never mind what the CWU say.

Pensions is ok but far from great with a few sticking points, e.g. 'target' income and 67 retirement age. Also, it isn't even legal yet!seaside wrote:Why are so many not happy with the deal
Total loss of Voluntary Redundancy.
Debatable Sick Redundancy - if you get another job you don't get paid, e.g. hurt your back so you can't walk and have to leave, then get another job sitting down - it's just goodbye, sayonara.
Lots of vague "we'll work together on that ..."
Lots of things dependant on unspecified trails (e.g. SWW)
7% pay rise (actual) over 3 years.
4:30 last letter for Rural Delivieries

well as I said in another post, it did seem like a decent deal. 7% payrise in total and an hour in October off the working week and another 12 months later, but in wtll yesterday, SUE Walley was on RMTV, and she mentioned the hour off will be ''absorbed''. so it literally means we have the same amount of work but less time to do it. what will happen when we are down to 35?...are we going to be expected to ''absorb'' 4 hours?!! also nothing was mentioned about a wage in retirement pension that Terry Pullinger was on about. just a lump sum. cracks are starting to appear.

I think I need to look at the full agreement, every time I come on here I see more reasons to vote no!

A below inflation pay deal. The deal for 2019 may be a disaster.seaside wrote:Why are so many not happy with the deal
A one pension " solution" which isn't.
More fluff than my belly button.
Terry was right in one respect. Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.
Well they have agreed on nothing except some more forums and steering committees.
I wonder how many of us will be invited to sit on one of them?
Were we on the cusp of something special?
What happened? Did we fall off?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I asked a Rep and a Area Rep about this and the supposed loss of MTSF. I was greeted with a 2 blank stares.k979aaa wrote:On what page and paragraph does it mention about loss of VR and IHR these things are our safety net for us all these thing's should never have ever been on the table?Spedley wrote:Pensions is ok but far from great with a few sticking points, e.g. 'target' income and 67 retirement age. As a consequence of the closure of the current DB scheme it will be necessary to amend certain other collective agreements, in a way that is consistent with the spirit and intent of those agreements to reflect that the scheme will no longer pay augmented benefits on redundancy or ill health.

May have been an idea to actuslly ask the members what was wanted BEFORE the negotiations... Can't remember anyone saying SWW is a red line = that seems to have been an aim for the union leaders ( do we believe the work is going to significantly reduce to enable us to actually do less hours ? ).
5% pay rise is actually way below inflation as it covers 2 years ( plus we won't actually get it in our pockets for months yet ) and agreeing to 2% for 2019 WTF will the inflation rate be then?
New starters will continue to be classed as 2nd class employees for 5 years with vastly inferior company pension contributions.
Considering voting NO - but at this rate we'll still be negotiating in September

Not surprised by that, I didn't expect anything different TBH!!!! Surely RM will start hiring more people and giving PT'ers more hours won't they?daveyeff wrote:....... and an hour in October off the working week and another 12 months later, but in wtll yesterday, SUE Walley was on RMTV, and she mentioned the hour off will be ''absorbed''. so it literally means we have the same amount of work but less time to do it......
