With regards to the drop in full-time hours I have heard that we will just be asked to start 12 mins later , many people still come in early so not much gain as we will be pressured to do just as much work in less time

Surely its down to local negotiation. If we are to benefit from the hour reduction I would favour either a half hour off the start time Monday and Tuesday or 15 minutes off the start time Wednesday to Saturday.

If they did this with 60 to 70 guys in a office and mail still comes in at correct time and same way as now.
And they don't advance the mail what they shouldn't be doing anyway.
So 60 to 70 hrs down per office some less some more.
It's just going to cause more b&h
And can't see them making PT staff up to full time

Every office is different but there's no way our office could take a 30min reduction on Monday & Tuesday and still cope with current workload. Whatever way it's allocated i think we'll end up with the greater reduction on a Saturday in the hope we'll rush round.Bernardson wrote:Surely its down to local negotiation. The hour reduction should be open to negotiation not for management to dictate where the reduction should be made.A2B wrote:Every office is different but there's no way our office could take a 30min reduction on Monday & Tuesday and still cope with current workload. Offices shouldn't be running on the charity off the staff working for free. You know the drill, start on time, take your breaks etc.

If 95% of the mail is going to be meched then you are going to have more time. Hence moving to an additional hour of the working week.Yamr1 wrote:They going to make walks smaller create more dutys lol no chance ...

One it's not been voted on yet but two would have rather seen a faster reduction because of automation but even RM are not that quick nor have the money at the moment but when they do you will worked hard. My third point is on this is two fold yes it it all very well for negotiators in the RM and CWU but if clowns keep working for free what hope is their for us all they should be disciplined once or twice and sacked on the thrice. As for the times most of that will be dictated by arrival time's but a more even structure of start and finish times would be more welcome long and short start time's should be done away with we need a pipeline that is constant not like an elephant in the desert and when it enters the savanna eat's everything and dumps it out in one go!

95% see if that ever happens
Maybe when it does then reduce the hours
And then get a solid agreement with no strings attached

Where a very long way away from having 95% of mail sorted by machine, you're probably looking at least 3 years minimum, by the time that RM go through the process of buying all the new machines that they'll need to buy to have flats and letters sorted and sequenced together. There isn't anywhere near the traffic levels of flats to justify the cost of dedicated flat sorting machinesBernardson wrote:If 95% of the mail is going to be meched then you are going to have more time. As I understand the countries In the world that have the most mechanised infrastructure can only reduce your indoor work to about 20 percent of the working day anyway.

The pre ballot agreement states;
"A reduction to the working week of one hour from October 2018 SUBJECT to (EDIT) (A) ...Trials ..."
Given the two hour reduction, at October 2019, is linked to the pay deal re the 5.33% .
If we are led to believe the reduction to 37 p/w is a foregone conclusion I don't see the point of the trials.
What if the trials decide it is unworkable? . As the next pay review date WILL be 1st April 2020 then we lose out on the 5.33%. (For PT an actual weekly increase)
Don't think that will happen , But it is possible under the wording as I read it.
