Later finish times : Info included

I know this has been raised on other forums but think a separate topic will help for any updates. Please advise if needs posting elsewhere. Later finish times will be make or break for a lot of people who have to do school run. Agreement on pay and pensions looks great but means nothing if you are forced to leave due to a later finishing time. Any provisions for this scenario? Which offices are affected?

My situation is that my round is unrealistic to the timescales ,sure im not the only one, i have on numerous occasions pouched off often to the frustration of my manager however i see that as my right . Does the situation change with this new agreement am i entitled still to pouch if i am obviously going to be well over or do we have to be more flexible i have not read anything transparent on this, also i read some rural duties may have a finish time of 4.30 is that correct or not if so how does that work if you start time at worst will be 30 minutes later any ideas anyone ?

Bet they will not till after the vote but most will be where they finish earlier than 3 PM most of these will be town and city walks and most of the membership will be in theses areas. But as it is not 5 PM as RM were telling us would not call it victory but we have held the line against the profit driven bastards!

Did I read somewhere that the average age of a Royal Mail employee is 49? If so, I cannot see being late for the school run affecting the overwhelming majority of the workforce.

I very much doubt no one will know their finishing times before the vote, once the list comes out it will deffo be on here at least.

In our delivery office nearly half of the staff are in that age bracket if not closer to a possible retirement age. We have been told that isn't the norm nowadays and most staff are a lot younger in RM. So the likelihood is a lot more staff have school run or other commitments that would be problematic with the SWW & LAT changes.

There is an interesting paragraph on page 30 of the agreement released today that you should read. It lists what RM/CWU expects of us in terms of the job and is probably the most important piece of text in the whole agreement. Notably it mentions enforcing us taking our breaks but declines to mention getting paid for going over time during non Christmas pressure part of the year. The previous agreement with RM stated that they didn't want us delivering mail after 1600 on rurals. The new agreement moves that target time on by half an hour to 1630. It's a promise to customers or a desire more than it is a rule or a time they would ask you to work til. The 1630 time isn't necessary connected with your duty finish time. There is a variable figure of time to be added to your start time from the 'LAT' which is to do with the mail arriving later. In addition for each hour of SWW time it is likely there will be an additional 12 minutes added to your start time. At least that is we what happened in our DO from the first hour of SWW in the previous pay agreement a few years ago.

Because it will help to secure a yes vote if the vast majority of offices who aren't going to have to change know that before they vote.

How will hour off work for me,im in a job share and work 3 days a week -24 hours - but work full time hours on those days -cheeers

There was an amendment carried at the PEC to release the details of those offices in each of three categories.

These will be released to Divisional Reps in the next two weeks. Well before the ballot .

What's stopping Royal Mail adding to these offices so a lot finish at the later times ?

Nothing from what I've read.

Guess if my office is in the latest bracket I will simply have to resign as I pick my son up from school at 3.20
