off Sick - face to face interview

Hi, I wanted to know the unions position on face to face interviews when someone is off sick. After how many days can management ask us to come in for a face to face and how often?
Any reference to agreements.

They can ask, just say you're too ill to attend. They are supposed to have a face to face with you before 28 days of absence but I can't see anything in the agreement that compels you to attend. How long have you been off and how long do you think your absence will last? These meetings are not supposed to be used for short term illness, type and frequency of contact for short term illness should be AGREED between you.

If you go, ensure your rep attends with you to make sure nothing untoward goes on.

The attendance agreement details the procedure to be followed for short and long term absences by both parties employees and management but as has been previously posted on this site how the interpretation of the wording of the attendance procedure is being continually abused by management by requesting face to face meetings even before the 7 day self certificate has been exhausted.
The attendance agreement states " BY" the 28th day of absence a face to face interview should take place but the insertion of the word " BY" is being used by management that somewhere between the 1st day of absence and the 28th day of absence a face to face interview should have taken place and management are using this loophole to prematurely want face to face interviews.
You keep yourself covered by setting up maintaing contact while absent either phone, text or e-mails and if your condition does not allow you to attend for a face to face interview then you politely refuse and come to another mutually agreed method.
Remember you may have the luxury of receiving full payment of your wages negotiated by the union while absent and to a point puts mangement in the driving seat where stoppage of your wages may be considered for non compliance.
Furthermore the GP fit note and the recomendations by OH Assist can be ignored by RM but ignoring the views of their appointed occupational health provider leaves RM in a precarious position should the medical condition be aggrevated by their insistance on a return to work.
It has been known for colleagues to return to work and read the newspaper so mangement have you in their sight and you are not at home and applying for a place in the olympic team.
