Changes to Callers Office

Our office is open 7am to 7pm (8pm on Wednesday), and this is the time I finish; but since the introduction of SPS it's pretty much gone pear-shaped on account of the fact that everything takes approximately three times longer to do than it used to. The "proposed" new plan is to have long and short shifts which would mean me being stuck there till 830pm most nights and even 930pm one day a week. This is so that all notice lefts can be booked into SPS before the morning shift. What I would like to know is, what is the process if I say I am not happy with these proposed hours? My manager has told me that if it is in the interest of the customers then I will have no choice.
Also; everyone who works inside has always had an hour's break, (we are tagged to a mail centre so I believe it was a local decision made years ago as this is the break that they get). However; under these new proposals they have slashed everyone's break to 40 mins.
And what is the policy on working alone, as I would be there on my own some nights for up to two hours and don't feel comfortable with this. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My advice is to get the heck out of the cage ASAP.... as a matter of principle.

Meal breaks attendance times are as below...

Attendance length............total breaks..... probable pattern

Less than 2 hours 30 minutes none (a 10 min grace break should be provided if work permits)
2 hours 30 to 3 hours................10 mins.................. 10
3 hours 1 to 3 hours 30..... .......15 mins....................15
3 hours 31 to 4 hours 59..... .......20 mins.................. 20
5 hours to 7 hours................... 30 mins...................30
7 hours 1 to 8 hours 59..... .......40 mins..............40 or 20 + 20
9 hours to 10 hours 59...............50 mins................30 + 20
11 hours to 12 hours 59..... .......60 mins............. 40 + 20 or 30 + 30
13 hours or longer..... ..............70 mins..................40 + 30

Any change in hrs have to be negotiated any reps involved in this, also a risk assessment for lone working has to be done.
Also am I right in saying MC's get longer breaks than deliveries?

they have folk bookinng in after delivery and before that hatch opens at my office. lad there till 4.30 / 5 then finishes off in morning 530/6 - 7am
