So basically where i live we have had lots of snow today and are at around 3" at the mo. I am a little worried about getting in tomorrow as i live in a cul de sac on the end of 2 very small quiet roadswhich will be a nightmare with snow. I just wondered what RM's policy is if i were to ring up tomorrow and say i can't get in due to snow.
I drive to work every day (50 min drive away) and the town i live in doesnt have a station, so not like i can just get a train there.
Would it be paid like sick pay, unpaid leave, forced holiday etc?

if you can't drive to your home delivery office is there a closer DO you can get to ( within 3 miles ) that you could work in for the day?
you could probably arrange to change your day off to that day, or take a days holiday or even take a day Special Leave C ( unpaid )

Sounds like you need to get a transfer to a more local office. One hour forty minutes round trip to work is no joke. Find out where your nearest walking distance DO is and walk there or hitch a lift there. When it snows others in cars tend to offer walkers lifts at least where we live. I do not think they will allow you to switch day off for snow so otherwise you will have watch the telly at home and lose a days wages.

If you can't make it in due to adverse weather then you can either make up the time by perhaps working your day off or possibly take a days annual (paid) leave or unpaid leave though this may be at your DOM's discretion. You won't be able to stay at home and still get a full days pay regardless....unfortunately!
If you get into work and are sent home on safety grounds due to the weather then it's a different case. Your local managers will probably try and tell you that you need to make the hours back but I'm pretty sure this isn't the case.
