Pay Rise ?
Am I correct in thinking that under the 4 pillars proposal that 2017-2018 we receive a pay rise ( back dated ) And that for 2018-2019 it's no pay rise but an hour off a 39 hr week ( so an hourly rate rise but no pay rise on basic pay ) many thanks

Pay Rise ?
As far as I am aware the aim is for pay rises for 17/18 AND 18/19 plus the 1 hour off FT working week ( and therefore an additional increase in hourly rate ) but as everything is still under negotiation it could all be scrapped if talks break down.
I suspect RM announcement on Thursday regarding xmas volumes will play some part in how generous any settlement is.

Pay Rise ?
No backdated pay then ? No backdated overtime pay ? Or am I missing something ..... it's just by my reckoning I'm owed about 500 overtime hours backdated at 2.6 %(if agreed) plus over a year's basic pay backdated . You can't just consolidate that into a new pay deal .!

The pay rise will be from 2017 every hour you have worked since then will be backdated they can't pick and choose what they pay you it's a two year deal from 2017nudenut wrote:No backdated pay then ? The two year pay rise could be applied in one go meaning it might not necessarily be backdated to April.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Pay Rise ?
If it's not backdated to 2017 it's not a two year deal which is probably what the main issue is on pay, they never want to back date anything especially nearly a year's back payfishtank wrote:gary1975 wrote:The pay rise will be from 2017 every hour you have worked since then will be backdated they can't pick and choose what they pay you it's a two year deal from

Pay Rise ?
If you apply a two year pay deal in one go 6 months into the two years you are applying the second part of that pay deal 6 months early. This is an alternative to paying back pay and worth more to the members in the long run. It is still a 2 year pay deal.gary1975 wrote:If it's not backdated to 2017 it's not a two year dealfishtank wrote:gary1975 wrote:The pay rise will be from 2017 every hour you have worked since then will be backdated they can't pick and choose what they pay you it's a two year deal from

Well we all get a vote on the deal so we shall see how it pans out the papers seem to know more about the "deal" than the members m8fishtank wrote:If you apply a two year pay deal in one go 6 months into the two years you are applying the second part of that pay deal 6 months early. Pay Rise ?
It is important that during any pay talks , the union Will look at variations of how to maximise the worth of any pay rise over two years.
The options are you have a percetange pay rise for 2017 from April until March 18 and than a further pay rise which kicks in from April 18 until the end of March 2019. You have to also factor in the hour off the working week which will see part timers , Newtwork and Professional Drivers in Mail Centres receiving an additional 2.6% pay rise.
Or you could as Fish has suggested kick in th whole 2 year pay deal from say October 17. Which ensure members get a bigger pay rise for 6 months more than they would have got from the normal two pay deal. The downside from this option is members won’t get the back pay backdated to April.
However the sum of money they would get would be more over the two year pay period than having two seperate pay rises.
So these are the options which our negotiators are discussing with Royal Mail and both of these options are far superior to Royal Mail’s original offer of a £375 lump sum offer which may be consolidated in April with a 2% pay rise from next year.
I realise the hunger for detail as everyone wants to know but we are entering hopefully the home straight and within the next three weeks hopefully we can than discuss the details on this forum.

Pay Rise ?
Why it is important for back pay to be backdated to April 2017 is that it then goes on to the last year of our csdb pension. Without it, that last year won't be worth as much. Plus many of us already have plans in mind for that back pay! It just goes to show, don't count your chickens....dingo wrote:It is important that during any pay talks , the union Will look at variations of how to maximise the worth of any pay rise over two years.

Pay Rise ?
Lets be honest the majority of people are expecting the back dated pay. So any deal that is put together without that lump sum backed dated is going to be harder to sell to the membership. As the backed dated pay would run into then hundreds it would certainly be welcome after christmas.
