Does anybody know if we are entitled to paid time off to look after your child if they are sick from school? My partner was paid 3 days a year if you can’t come in to work because your child is sick, she already has taken that the last 6 months so last week I had to stay at home with my daughter who was sick but Dom says we don’t pay you for it as you were not sick! He says you get special leave but no pay but I thought they had to pay you 3 days a year as that’s what my wife’s employer says?

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

• Time off for dependants: is where there is an immediate need to make alternative care arrangements for a
dependant (e.g. an employee’s child minder is unexpectedly sick). There is a legal entitlement to offer time off
and one day off unpaid is normal, with further days either unpaid or covered by annual holiday

Usually

It doesn't stop your manager paying you, but that one word allowed him to decide not to. Next time he wants flexibility.........
