Saturdays off.......ever???

Do you guys ever get Saturdays off? In my DO it seems most of the posties rarely get one! One guy hasn’t had one for 6 months when he questioned it he was fobbed off by management. How is this right? We all have family life and our other halves get Saturdays off and we never see them! Surely it should be based on a fair rota. I know some of the ‘suck ups’ get them regularly.

. Why don’t the union reps get involved to help the minority out (oh beacuse they get Saturdays off

It's not right. it's certainly unfair and it's quite possibly discriminatory. Usually it is only reserves who suffer, mind you and one reason it isn't challenged by the union is that by penalising reserves in this way, it opens the door for walkholders (generally those with most seniority) to get additional Saturdays as 'comp' days.

There should be an agreement in your office about having a saturday off every so often, in my office it’s 1 every 6 weeks.

If you’re not having them off put a grievance in.
And full timers often have Saturday as a shorter day so if you’re always working them then you’re working for free

You could become a manager they seem to get lots of Saturdays off!!!!!!!!!

its actually the opposite, if you keep working the shorter days youre the one gaining (time wise)

Back in the day when I was a reserve I checked on this. Used to get way more long days off than short.

All the reserves, covers, and part-time Postie's have rolling consecutive days off like the full time staff. Initially some didn't but you have to then get your union rep to chase it up with your DOM. That had been done in our office and everyone gets the same treatment now.

Yes all the Postie's in our office have rolling consecutive days off. We are quite a small office with eleven walks left now after two were 'absorbed' into the remaining walks halfway through last year. Our walks are the largest in our area/quarter of the country ie we effectively do double absorption every day even at Xmas. We are sort of at breaking point now so RM can't really come asking for any more lapsing or absorption now. All the blood had been drained out of our veins metaphorically speaking.

All apart from reserves! Although I do get 1 in 6 saturdays off.
