Missorts

The inward sort at our little office, at the best of times consists of many missorts. This Xmas has been horrendous, some trays have a few of our 'stuff' and a majority for all around the country and the world, literately. Had one letter the other day posted in Cyprus going to USA, ended up in our office,(just one example of many). All this takes time as we all know, it would be nice to have at least our own post to sort without many other DO's in the country and abroad. Why, we have this 'state of the art' machinery now, so why is it happening. I read in the Courier that everything is going to be sequenced and Honkey Dorey.

We get that in our DO all the time. It's usually a similar or not so similar first two letters of the postcode. We get quite a lot of mail for Chepstow in Gwent where they for some reason put the postcode for our area which is not the same. Another popular postcode we get is the SG prefix one. That one is not really similar to ours and is about 75 minutes away by car. We sometimes get whole trays full of SG mail. The rest of our wrong letters,parcels, & tracked are the same postcode prefix as ours but the next two figures are different. Local mail in other words. So either the machines, or maybe more likely the operators, cannot read English.

Same Missorts have been going through our office for weeks , Royal Mail cuts mean there is no longer a dedicated missort man as there use to be over xmas . It's poor quality of service but why should I care if Royal Mail don't .

Multiply all these missorts around the country and it must amount to 100,000's, what a waste of effort to all concerned. Read the Courier and all is well; talk about out of touch, no wonder the share price is rock bottom, upwards and onwards thro' 2018, can't get any worse can it. I agree with you that there is a massive problem with missorts across the whole network. We get incorrect tracked items for instance every day. So I assume all those tracked items would be liable for compensation by RM which I think is a standard fee of quite a few quid.
On the share price though I would have to disagree. RM pays out too much dividend relative to how much profit the business makes and investors know this. Add to that the likelihood that there will not be strike now as the CWU will have to join forces with RM to get their pension scheme legislation through government into law. It is likely that the CWU will agree to other poor terms for us Postie's such as fiddling with the wages to make them less and moving our starting times forward. All these points are good for RM management and the investors dividend but bad for us Postie's . The share price has now recovered to the point where it was a year ago and is continuing to steadily rise.

On the subject of missorts
I used to do the missorts run in the morning (mail for local offices)to the mail centre
But now have to throw a walk in( not done it for well over a year)
the missorts now sit in the office till later on in the day
Is this now standard or are they breaching rules
As I thought it had to be done everyday
