How bad is it when managers do deliveries or sort mail?

I always heard they’re not allowed, but I see it happen every day.
Do they get sacked if they’re not allowed?

I'm not sure of the ruling but our rep is pretty on the ball at not letting it happen. When it does happen and we mention it to the rep he normally says "someone has gone sick".

So going off that I'm guessing they can do it in unforeseen circumstances

If more managers did a round regularly, they probably wouldn't be as supportive of continuous change in deliveries, as they are now.
The job's gone too far down the shitter for me to think like nothing's happened and it's 1990 once again, and give a toss about managers doing something to actually earn their pay and bonuses.

They are not suppoed to do it, but they do to cover up their own inadequacies in work planning. If they do it on a daily basis it really does need flagging up with your rep as nowhere do you see in a unit work plan a manager's name against a duty. It does indeed deny workers some much needed overtime opportunities when the manager may often do less than 30 hours a week for almost twice the pay.

Absolutely.

Every manager should do three full weeks on delivery every year. Those physically incapable could, after independent assessment, be offered three weeks in the caller's office or on collections.

Ours will have a near breakdown if theres a chance they may have to do some work.

Would be nice if they actually worked with us not against us, like updating frames, looking at balancing out the deliveries.

Yes. It is amazing how many new starters comment on the divide between managers and workforce within RM that is utterly contrary to their experience elsewhere.

ha ha sort mail ffs. Neck ache trying to study the overhead walk lists and poor eyesight for failing to get any mail in the right slots is the norm when they do
