So How Was Your Xmas Pressure?

So now its all over how was your 3 or 4 week run up to Christmas? Did it go smoothly or did you face a daily battle? Did you cut off everyday or were you allowed to book as much excess needed to complete?

Mine was smooth. Chucked out packets most days unless I had time to do them. Only went over a couple of days. So can't complain

cut off most days not interested in their ot
our mgmt triedc to do it on the cheap and customers have suffered
failing daily and i couldnt care any more

i wanted not much ot so opted for 4 day a week in December,4 days I worked where 9 hr 45 mins long ,had bits of ot wed onwards,mon and tues got back a little earlier.so much jealousy in our small office,only a few of us chose a 4 day a week we had a few go off sick,you either want the overtime or not,i chose not,but some idiots get so jealous

Well this was my 1st Christmas with RM the way old posties went on about it I was expecting the worst, being spare it was a breeze taking out packets & loops, no sorting.

Same here, expecting something terrible that was going to leave me a gibbering wreck, but it wasn't too bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's over but it was okay.

An eye opener too. Our DO was run on overtime and if that goodwill was withdrawn...well, it'd be game over. I cut off just the once, on a Saturday, in the lead up and I could sense the panic as I put my foot down and told them it wasn't open to debate, I wanted an afternoon with my kids.

Can't grumble though. The parcel delivery overtime in the mornings and extension overtime made the wages up, but I think next Christmas it's going to be either or, not both.

Nice to be back though, eh? We were greeted with the info that there'd be lapsing today. How we laughed! More than they did when we brought it back again at the end of the shift anyway.

Cut off / took back every day . I don't want overtime at that crap rate . It's about time the CWU got proper overtime rates back now that the job is running on overtime !

It was the busiest Christmas in a while for mail. We had one Tuesday that was light on mail, every other day was horrendous. Packets were bad, too, lots of Amazon that they were pushing on to us at the last minute. We cleared because our office tends to, but it was a hard slog, and the worst Christmas I've experienced since 2014.

open book in our orifice for those that wanted it ,nahh I'm not one for dragging the f***ers out the s**t , even paying people o/t to go in early and prep there own mail

, the cwu need to increase the o/t rate then they would employ more staff or make p/timers into f/time , as it would cost them a fortune to pay o/t , but hey ho who I'm I.

Bang on mate , the CWU definitely needs to get time & quarter overtime back , then RM would get staffing levels back up

Been in the job just 3 years but noticed quite a drop in volume this Xmas. We had no spare vans for packet relief so we had to improvise by one of us taking out big stuff early whilst other double prepped. No one should ever doubt the commitment we give to this company even after all the crap they put us through. Yes they pay us o/t but we could quite easily say no. You're all a credit to this company and the cwu should let it be known to the public that were the ones who delivered to them and only failed in some instances because of the sheer greed of the people who rum RM. Public needs to be informed about just how much disregard RM have for some of its customers. The lapsing part of our walks which are usually parts of areas like council estates are seen as low priority 2nd rate customers which is akin to apartheid south africa.
