As I sit here with a well deserved beer reflecting on Christmas pressure, in the years I’ve been with RM, this has by far been the worse for “RM Penny pinching”
Even though we got through it, it seemed our office did it on the cheap, did the usual pressuring new staff to work over (some not finishing until 6pm!) maybe it’s just the fact I care and have pride in my job ??? And seeing how downhill this company is going at the moment.

It worries me now to think what RM will have up their sleeve come further talks in January now we have finished Xmas pressure.

north west area here....ye ours penny pinched and sly tactics as well,,,,,telling us our customers miss out if we don't go the extra mile...or 3 hours over LOL

ringing up the office panickers on there days off telling them theres loops left for when they come in next day....so diveys came in on there day off

years gone by weve had 3...4...5 packet drivers for an office of 50 approx.....this year just 1....and pressuring us in to taking more packets.

I think we've just about managed it. Hasn't been a problem with Over Time, they just seem to be throwing money at it!

We are however NOT overmanned and have been running for literally years relying on the "Overtime Bandits" working their days off, doing SA collections and picking up any cut off loops. They're looking well frazzled now.......and good luck to them....... I had to laugh as they were all anxious to see how much extra they'd made on their payslips this week, and comparing them with each other.

What with the "Overtime Bandits" rubbing their hands with glee, and the "Ass Kissers" gloating over how much they'd made in tips (although not being specific just hinting

), plus the "Moaners & Whingers" bleating about how hard THEIR duties were and how THEY needed more help than others

(yet somehow managing to still finish earlier than their helpers

), it's been a LOVELY CHRISTMAS .... NOT!

To add Insult to Injury on Friday (one of the busiest days) our DOM decided to have a Team Briefing to let us know there were going to be some changes in the New Year. Half the Office would be starting, and therefore finishing an hour later, as part of a 3 month review before an internal revision. You couldn't plan a more demotivating time to announce it.... where do these Dickheads get their training? Anyone with half a Brain would have waited until we came back after a well deserved Christmas break.

Crazy that they may be introducing later start times. These will not work at Christmas time when it gets dark at 4pm! I can't imagine anyone wanting to do overtime when these changes occur.

How can we think of next year if we cannot even deliver yesterdays mail in a timely fashion in this day and age!

Anybody else rang up today Sunday asked to come in & deliver parcels that where bought back yesterdayI I was, some of the comments on here about how easy it was this Christmas must work for another company than the one I work for, letters down but oh my good parcels for sure made up for it, the problem with RM like so many people haves said before if u have extra staff in mail ccentres then u have to have extra staff in delivery offices because extra work just doesn’t disappear once it leaves Mail centres. Let's hope we have a better Christmas next year but I dought it, been on the post 30 years this was the worst already not looking forward to next Christmas if I,m still there.

Got to add this comment by woody38 by saying similar service in time in the job but the place is run by cost saving target meeting bullshiting managers who don't want to work for them going on delivery is akin to going over the top in WW1! Well if said bastard said he was right behind me I would say forgot my bayonet run back and prodded the recalcitrant lazy bastard now before me!

Managers should'nt be doing any work they are paid to manage not do delivery or any kind of work in a mc.

Managers should'nt be doing any work they are paid to manage not do delivery or any kind of work in a mc.

Well the so called Managers we have cannot for fill the job description they are nothing other than coffee drinking charlatans of the first order and that is being kind to them!

It's almost a certainty that part of the agreement between RM and CWU will involve an absolute minimum of 30 minutes later start times at DOs and I won't be surprised if it ends up being 60 minutes. They can't go further than that probably though as it would make delivering nine o'clock specials difficult. Will probably make us finish well into the dark/nighttime at Christmastime in 2018!!!
Make sure you thank the union for selling us out again.

Make sure you thank the union for selling us out again.

Realistically it's going to be an hour, if the 35hr week does come in then MC night shifts will probably start an hour later. You've potentially got the later acceptance of mail which will potentially also push the workload back in MCs.
