Anyone going in on Sunday

Asked all staff in office this morning if we would like to come in on Sunday to clear parcels,as you can imagine a few choice replies
Perhaps the higher management who thought that not having parcel duties or extra vans over the Christmas period is a good idea,would like to come in and get them out of the s***
I did offer to come for treble time and a day in lieu but it fell on deaf ears

We have been offered £25 p/hr, had enough now, no chance. It's problems of their own making. Not sure that the new deal will address the ridiculous situation regarding P/T to F/T contracts and also skeleton staffing levels on the basis of some computerised model.

Not a chance I will go in! Did volunteer to do parcel delivery on a Sunday a couple of years ago, manager told us it would be time and a half (lying s**t) we only got 50p an hours extra after that no one will work a Sunday for them. They cant even get anyone to go in the callers office, door closes tomorrow at 17.30 and will not open till Wednesday morning.

My day off today but told off one of the guys working today that they went asking for volunteers for sunday,not too many took them up on the offer apparently

Only way they'll get me to come in is if they raise my contracted hours from 31 to 39 PERMANENTLY.

The dom don’t even bother asking us about Sunday’s. Promised double pay once and never delivered.

Was the final straw for a overtime ban in the office a few weeks later every single PT staff got made up to full time.

It's good to know that this disastrous plan wasn't just our office, it seems to be company policy now.

You get little, if any, appreciation of thanks from above and just get more and more thrown at you.

AFAIK Sunday rate is double time, but it's not discretionary by the DOM or whoever. You work it you get paid it.
Better the CWU sorts out these sort of day-to-day anomalies than bigging up links with Momentum or other such crap.

No Sunday SA rate is about 13.50/hour hardly double :)

We've got a couple of guys going in. Surprise Surprise they're both Part Timers trying to make up some hours.

I think they're just doing the Callers Office but I haven't a clue because I didn't bother to ask. I suppose they could both pop out in a van each and do some packets before the Office opens.

TBH it's not been a very well organised Christmas.

Today the DOM said "We haven't got any spare parcel guys today" I think he thought we'd all just take everything. He got a shock....... because we didn't! Royal Mail may well have avoided Industrial Action prior to Christmas but I think they'll find they really suffered from the lack of "Good Will" this Christmas, more than any other. And long may it continue.

Wonder if wed now get an increase in the89 pcent ballot vote now , i think we would. Christmas was all about the shareholders this year , worst ive seen since i started in the 90s

I am the office cat will die if it does not get fed quite apart ten managers are in it take two to switch on the lights not the brightest (not the lights by the way) three to round up the cat (but the cat will find it's own way back) three others to weigh the food and make sure it does not get overfed (overfed management now that's a first) another needs to document it whilst another supervises them all but if anyone goes sick the humble postman has to do all ten job's!
