i really cant see how using the smaller bands can save royal mail money, Iv a bag of the large bands that iv had for 5 / 6 months, use them every day. the small ones don't last a couple of days never mind a month. does everyone not recycle the big bands, what on earth are folk doing with them.

We only get the small ones that snap as soon as stretched any reasonable amount.
Totally useless and a waste of money as well as being bad for the environment.
It is pointless saving them as they seem to degrade almost straight after using them for the first time.
I would happily save big ones and re=use.

The best thing about small bands is when they snap and hit a work mate in the head

Edit: I have also a fair few large bands that I have had for a good 6 months and still going strong.

Our DOM said told us every office is able to order which ever size of bands they want to use. So if you want to use the larger ones just ask your DOM to order a box up.

A box is pretty big. Plus the big elastic bands don't snap so unless you are one of those Postie's who chucks them on the ground or all over the van they will last a long time.

Absolutely right. I’d put money on a handful of big bands lasting for many months - probably over a year. They should simply stop ordering the small ones, it’s a total no-brainer. The only reason to require more is if you’re a moron who drops them around all the over the walk every day.

Pet hate of mine. I'm a reserve so do a lot of different rounds. Depending on the round, I can pick up anything from 2 or 3 to 10 or 12 bands a day, thats ones with nothing wrong with them, not snapped ones. Reflects badly on all of us.

our dom support who orders the band's, always orders 3 boxes of large bands the person who sorts this always sends 2 boxes of small and 1 box of large, and always puts note saying only one box of large bands allowed at a time to save on budget, this said person was on holiday last time they got ordered and low and behold 3 boxs of large bands where sent as ordered with no note attached. unbeliveable isn't it.

In our office, apparently we have a cap on how many bands we are allowed, management come round every few days with a box chucking a few on each frame! And they're useless beyond belief, snapping as soon as they're used a couple of times. We always have shortages, you have to hide them or someone will nick them off the frame! Not had this in any other office I've worked in tbh but its a right pain in the backside! And we have very few large bands, they're like gold dust!
