LTB 688/17 - Executive Summary Update on Talks with Royal Mail Group

No. 688/2017
20th December 2017

Dear Colleague,

Executive Summary Update on Talks with Royal Mail Group

Further to previous updates provided to Branches/Representatives via our weekly LTB Bulletins, please find attached an Executive Summary setting out the very latest position in the talks with Royal Mail Group.

Video

In addition to the attached Executive Summary, please note that a video from the DGS(P) has now been circulated via the CWU’s social media platforms explaining the current position in the talks. Branches and Representatives can access the video through the CWU website or by clicking on the link below:
https://www.facebook.com/Thecommunicati ... 835684556/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I trust the above communications will prove useful in updating the membership on the progression of the talks to date. Rest assured the CWU will continue to monitor progress and will not hesitate to serve notice of Industrial Action if we feel it necessary.

Notwithstanding our current difficulties and the serious nature of this situation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the incredible support throughout the year and to send you and yours best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

Yours sincerely

Terry Pullinger
Deputy General Secretary (Postal)

Everybody in the union and some not in the union want their own deal the best deal is the one we all stick together for all and get everything sorted now a two year deal fall's short of that mark for the automation may well drastically increase workload beyond capacity of human endurance but mail centres don't have enough staff but somewhere along the line we need an agreement which can deliver all these challenges! But till then we need more talks and at the end of talks it's a deal or no deal and strikes but no one likes to lose money but for the sake of the future we must be prepared to dig deep and stay true to the convictions of the four pillars.

The CWU will provide details of Royal Mails final offer and what they think is in accord with The Four Pillars Agreement.
If you don't agree with it then you vote no. The majority vote will decide whether it goes ahead or not, so in terms of getting stuffed on finish times, that is down to you the members, no one else.

It wouldn,t be ironic, it would be commercial suicide. They would make sure that it is the CWU that walk away from the talks by not meeting what the union is insisting on.

to be honest do you think these people running the company really give a s**t about the customers or the staff ? , they don't give a s**t if the company went tits up all they are interested in is the share price and what money they can earn out of the company before it goes , then they will walk away with pockets full of cash and go somewhere else ,

Precisely why they will not pull the plug on the talks. The share price would drop immediately, as it did when the CWU announced the original strike date.

That is my conclusion too, and is absolutely not acceptable to me. I cannot work later, end of.
