Hopefully someone can give me some advice.

Basically im a p/t postie whos been recently told by dom and rep that there are 2 f/t reserve positions soon to be available.

Have now been told that a f/t reserve from another office will be transfered to mine and will take 1 of the positions available.

Spoke with rep who says he can do nothing.

What can i do as im sure this is out of order?

Really?

So a union rep instead of looking after his office members allows his p/t staff to get shafted??

As far as I'm aware the job is supposed to be advertised internally first. On what basis is this 39hr person from outside being transferred in for?

I was told by rep that this person was being disciplined which is why he's being transferred to my office which makes no sense at all to me?

Franco,
Yes, that's unfortunately what happens, a problem employee is moved rather than sorted out, just as an incompetent DOM is moved rather than sorted out, and I've never known any other company that works like that. :thumbdown

That's the problem, I've heard of this happening to someone who had been found guilty of bullying, so instead of getting sacked he got moved staying on full time hours, so much for zero tolerance eh !!

Are you top of the p't list in your office? when the other f't arrives he or you if you are senior in time in the business will get first pick if you are first in the p/t list to be made up some other f/t in your office may want that duty that is how it work's!

14.3 The process for resourcing full-time and part-time, non-specialist posts will comprise one of four options, in the following order, unless agreed locally to change this order:

Internal advertisement of the job within the currently recognised resourcing unit/s.
Deployment of existing surplus employees.
The acceptance of an existing employee from the wider resourcing area or another resourcing area who has previously had his/her name placed on the transfer list for that resourcing unit.
External advertisement.
There is a possible exception and that would be the circumstances of the person transferring in.
Someone being disciplined and screwing over the office is an exception??

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
