I've had 2 days off received a email yesterday morning from Amazon your order will be delivered today via Yodel by 9PM..

Wait all day yesterday and at 4.15 I get a email sorry you weren't in and a card has been left total BS no card and I was in with a mega loud wireless doorbell that sounds on both floors!

I'm still waiting for that parcel to be delivered now as I went online to collect and they've closed my local office and the depot is 14 miles away

Can the powers that be really model our future based on this kind of experience 2 full days wasted waiting around for 1 packet?

Most of my customers know a ballpark of let's say a 1 hour window of when I will be around

Saw a large box 'doorstepped' by Yodel today. Heavy snow today in the NE. Bet customer will not be too happy...

The more I see such delivery service 'standards' from rival companies make me glad that I never doorstep.

I use to care about the customers and the job , but to be honest I don't give a s**t now with the way these running the company think of us , and if they want me to sling parcels , pkts over fences in bins etc to save them money and to please the shareholders , then I'm fine with that , BUT it will cost them more in the long run compo claims and missing stuff , and there so called targets set by Ofcom

Not every courier is like that though I’ve had a lot delivered by dpd they text you with an hour time slot and always on time you can even track exactly where the driver is we can’t come close to that kind of service

Ye dpd are quite good, but royal mail are at a disadvantage with being stuck with letters that's why it's a constant rolling stone now with changes which fair play are needed to survive

Need to seperate parcels from letters to provide a service which invokes offering time slots.Royal Mail know this of course but they aren't willing to pay for it .

what back to the old days with parcel drivers ? hmm it sounds about right with this company , they just go round with these great money losing ideas to end up where they where before they changed , f***ing clueless , lol

To be fair, search Royal Mail online or on social media and all you'll find is stories like this. You're always gonna have the odd failure due to simple human error or operational issues. Yodel do seem particularly bad for doorstepping, thing is though if I didn't get paid without delivering I'd be throwing parcels here, there and everywhere!

If you read the Mediation Summary Pack it explains the need to have a combined delivery model, the cost of delivering a parcel increases from around 50p to £2.50 if we separated parcels from letters it would price us out of the market and mean the only option would be to move us onto a Hermes style price per item contract, the impact on the letters business would be disastrous without the growth in parcels and the profit to offset letter decline.

The end result would be the total collapse of the 6 day USO massive compulsory redundancies, the break up of the business, Royal Mail floundering in a highly competitive parcel market, a huge and desperate cost cutting exercise, massive cuts to terms and conditions in an attempt to undercut our competitors and in my opinion because our competitors already have a head start I think the company would be out of business within 5-10 years or bought on the cheap by one of the sharks and further broken up.

Be careful what you wish for, it isn't Royal Mail who are unwilling to pay for the separation of letters and parcels, it's me and if you've any sense it should be you too.

On the topic in question, You're always going to have people moaning about parcel deliveries. They're the same idiots that demand same day delivery.... but they're not in anyway, they order loads of parcels but they're both at work all day! We are always going to be in the wrong.

On the question of separating deliveries: I'm quite happy with the current system, I just think a lot of Posties have too much work to do within their contracted hours. The amount of idiots in this company just compound the situation. IF we didn't have so many idiots working for free, and cutting corners, we would be able to protect current jobs, and perhaps even employee the right amount of Posties!

In the past fortnight a postman has forged my partner's signature, torn off a signed for label (not the first time) and delivered a foreign item without any signature,
Today I saw a trolley tied to a lamppost with the keys in the lock while the postie was about 100m away.
Another postie had left a bag of parcels at the end of the drive while he was at the front door attempting delivery.
Another was in a shop while the mail was outside in the basket on the trolley.

I think a lot of people already think they work for Yodel.
Mail integrity isn't high on anyone's list of priorities.

Yodel drivers all pay per drop so of course they doorstep chuck over gate etc or they don’t get paid until parcel delivered

I saw a parcel driver presumably yodel/hermes. Driving around delivering parcels with her kid asleep in the backseat.
