Hopefully this is right place to post this.
I have been at Royal Mail since April 2017 and during the application phase i disclosed i had some medical issues still on going. Since i have started i have been on the same walk a fairly heavy one but didn't bother me. What i hadn't considered when i applied was the dark hours especially during the Christmas period and how busy it is likely to get.
I approached the management about making some changes to mitigate not working in the dark but keeping me on the same rotation for days off (My day off is when i attend my medical appointments).
I did make the suggestion that i could stay on the round but go out on my own and thus be back before it started to get dark. I know the walk, the customers, so i am now more settled mentally.
However the first week i was taken my old walk and placed on another one for the whole week, which i managed just about. However when i looked at where i would be working the following week i found out i was on 4 different walks in 5 days, which I cant cope with. Has a result now I'm off work because this uncertainty is causing me some serious issues mentally.
I am now at the point where I don't know what to do. It feels like because i have asked for adjustments I am getting s**t on.
Any advice would be great don't really like sitting at home.

Reasonable Adjustments
All new starters are put on different walks in their office, or sent to other offices to helpon a regular basis.
Some new starers are left on the same walk for 1-2-3 weeks or even months if the duty holder is off sick for example but this doesn`t mean a new starter/floater will get his own walk straight away.
Your manager should help you considering that you have a medical condition, depending on what is that but he doesn`t have to and most are not helpfull.
If you joined the Union, speak to your rep.
If you are moved around on different walks, you don`t have to work pass your finishing time, you can cut off following procedures.
I am sure that more seniors forum members will give you more helpfull advice :)

Reasonable Adjustments
Your employer has in law to make reasonable adjustments to your duty if your medical condition ( undisclosed) falls within the realms of the EA 2010.
It is noted that you have not hidden your medical condition in your application form to RM and they have accepted this in your employment.
If you are a union member you need to inform your union rep of your dilemma and bring HR services into the equation.
If your training officer is based at your office and was aware of your medical condition then there is the possibility of him/her giving you assistance.

Has to TRY to make reasonable adjustments.rehabron wrote:Your employer has in law to make reasonable adjustments to your duty if your medical condition ( undisclosed) falls within the realms of the EA 2010.
And not necessarily to your duty.
Or any duty in your office.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Reasonable Adjustments
reasonable adjustments in our office is pushing someone off their round and giving it to the person with the issue, all vacated rounds from retirement and people leaving are given to the person with issue ,this is usually the lightest round and gives seniority no credabilty , atleast 20 people have gained new rounds like this, im all for those who need help to get it but its just been abused.
