External Mediation as soon as possible

RMTV (17 October) stated "we want to begin the process of external mediation with the union as soon as possible ... The first step in the mediation process is to select an external mediator..."

Will the extended uncertainty not have a detrimental effect as, According to the courier, the threat of industrial action will adversely affect businesses who will go elsewhere.

" As soon as possible" is an indeterminate period creating more uncertainty. A week has passed since the injunction.
Is there evidence that any customers have actually gone, Or intend to go the longer the situation continues, elsewhere in view of the threat of I.A. ? .

I am not sure if the clock is ticking, paused or stopped, but the clocks go back 1 hour on 29th & perhaps that extra hour of negotiation will make the difference!.

I don't think so, the cost of living has risen a lot, a lot more people will hold out for the sales in January ( last two weeks in December really ) and it will be as busy as Christmas week easy.

the clock is ticking for royal fail but they don't seem to be in a rush to talk but who cares , we was told by an area rep that they have 5 weeks mediation then the cwu give them 2 weeks notice so I/a could be from the 4th dec , so let royal fail waste there time because they wont get another chance to stop it

, unless a deal is done .

It appears that Terry has found Moya and they have spent some real time together (5-6 hrs) apparently, and she is desperate to do a deal, after watching her on a recent WTLL when she was about to start crying or have a heart attack, the pressure is on, not just Moya but the CWU also, lets hope ACAS can bring the both together for some MEANINGFUL talks or we are all F***ed, slight caveat to what I am saying is " If you are asked to rise like lions, and you respond, how can you be told to sit down like children" ???? Members words not mine, food for thought

Correct me someone if I am wrong, the Mediation timetable started on the 12/10/17 and runs for 5 weeks, then if no resolve 2 weeks notice of strike action, that then makes it the 30/11/17??

No its 5 weeks mediation , if no deal is done then talks are extended for 2 more weeks , only then can cwu give 2 weeks notice so 9 weeks in total before any kind of strike .

From what I understood in the agreement, mediation has to begin within one month. Then a total of 9 weeks before a strike can be called.
