One vacant full time duty in the office.
Most senior person who wants it is part time but we have a transferee come in who's full time but not as senior
Who gets the job?

Most senior person unless the person transferred in specifically to fill that vacancy ie. a displaced full timer from an office that has had a revision

Transferee came to the office as it was more suitable for the business. So what happens to the spare full timer now?

Definitely a dilemma, can just see them trying to say the new postie has to go on the duty as otherwise you'll have one too many full timers, it just doesn't seem fair at times, just wondering if this guy got a transfer before the vacancy occured as that begs a question how did he manage to transfer full time if there wasn't a vacancy,(maybe he arrived under a dark cloud poss that's why it was good for the business) could be worthwhile arguing the point in the existing most senior guys favour.

A couple of years ago I applied for a duty in our office. I have over 27 yrs service & the duty I am on now I have covered for a few years but all the steps & driveways have taken there toll & the duty I applied for was much flatter & not as long. The then manager said the duty had to be filled by a part-timer. I said why & he couldn't give me an answer.I even said why not put my duty to part time so I could have the other duty but he wasn't having any of that. I even went to the union rep but he was a complete waste of time. So a part-timer took the duty with less than half the seniority I have.
I am still on this duty & expected to run around like a 20 yr old.
I was talking to someone the other day & he said do RM look after the postmen & women who have a long service ie: give you easier jobs as you get older etc etc.
I said you must be joking not in our office anyway.
