Apart from all the issues surrounding the strike, still the biggest gripe for me is Posties not using trolleys. We were given a golden opportunity to make our jobs much easier and we have chosen to abandon it. Posties whinging about lapsing who would struggle to finish on time using a trolley. And the reason we dont use them is because we are too s**t scared to tell managers we will have to cut off or go over on what are now perceived to be below model days. If we are together then all reps should use this as a starting point and get round the office and hammer it home. We should be rounding on managers who prey on the weak members and have them have to do some managing for a change, instead of giving them thet easy ride they have now.

I once had a manager tell me that using a trolley DOESN'T make it take long. Tried three times to explain to him. He wasn't having any of it.

Dougfunny 892 I couldn't agree more mate. A lot of Postie's gripe about all the crap but when it comes to the crunch they don't cut off, they come in early ect ect. Yous all know who they are in every office. Get the reps to have meetings away from the offices and bloody sort this out

The reps in our office are useless they do nothing for u, never have meeting with us do jack s**t for us. I have used the trolleys before they are useless every time I use one the next day either my legs are stuff or my feet hurt, they are not made right u are bending in a funny position trying to bush the thing. I have used a high capacity trolley & they are made better, I never get a bad back or my feet hurt useing them. I split the loops up & carry less weight in the bags that helps for me.

If your walk is designed/supposed to use a trolley use it! If you get injured during the walk, the DOM is bound to ask if you used the trolley like you're supposed to. If you haven't then they'll just throw you to the wolves

What do you guys actually expect from a rep to stop this? Most posties only look out for themselves so it’s very hard to stop people coming in early working for free etc....maybe they could make everyone believe that cutting off isn’t actually that scary??
One other thing I can think of is making sure the first aider starts on their time so technically no one else is allowed in before

Time and time again our rep has told everyone to use trolleys, even told them management WILL sack anyone caught no using them, but still we have the hard core who won't use them.
Even have a few that drive around doing packets and then park up to carry the bag around the same houses.

There is only so much a rep can do, it needs someone to be sacked to make the others wake up.

There are very few jobs where people don't cut corners, it's human nature. Even the most self righteous on here will cut some corners when it suits. There are many reasons from management pressure to selfish attitudes but it's not the reason that jobs are on the line or terms and conditions are under threat.

Of all the hours we've lost in our office I can't say that 1 minute has been down to anyone starting early or not using a trolley. I've fought for every minute and every minute lost has been justified using the agreed resourcing tools and using the agreed methods and timings. Management cannot put forward a case for reducing hours on the basis of people starting early or cutting corners, a resourcing model simply can't be based on unknown variables like that.

Our "worst enemy" is a business intent on cutting costs and increasing profits while failing to understand the impact that has on frontline staff, turning in on ourselves is not the answer. Threads like this are unhelpful and just come across as bitching sessions.

instead of using trolley just make loops shorter
cant use trolley for blocks of flats,so the loops are shorter
just apply same principle

I love a bitching session me.

When the infamous trolleys came in we had a chance, a chance to slow down and heal our wounds.After all we're an ageing workforce ripe for IHR.
We had a chance to show the business it's ridiculous and unworkable stats and timings, but we blew it.

Pointless going over old ground, you know how it works day to day.Either way we blew it and we will continue to blow it, bring on the 3 bundles, f**k it, let's have 4!

Had a heated argument with a fellow postie on the shop floor the other day who was adamant that if he took his 20 minute meal relief he would go over his time. That was after he had come in 30 minutes early, for free, to prep his code sort and he was going to have to run to get back to pick up his Grandchild from school.

The trouble with most people at Royal Mail is they can't see the bigger picture, during my long time at Royal Mail I have seen massive changes, in the old days people stuck together and would do anything for each other, nowadays 90% of the workforce come in early and don't take a break, if they finish at 12 they want to finish at 11-30, if they finish at 11-30 they want to finish at 11,they are never happy, they are selfish people and when the s**t hits the fan they will be the first people to moan IMO.
