If Royal Mail had put as much effort and money into negotiating the pay talks and pension debacle as they will the injunction to stop us striking -then maybe we would all be better off!

The effort and money
I question the whole "we are shareholders, you work for us" angle that gets thrown around.
Whilst technically true, they don't really care about us as shareholders. We're a really small shareholder. One that's going to get even smaller as time passes. And one that can't really communicate effectively with them, because we're in lots of little bits.
And I question just how much "effort and money" has been spent on the propaganda and injunction movement. We're talking some meetings with corporate lawyers. Yes not cheap but not exactly unusual. They'll likely be on retainer anyway, deductable from income, so might as well use 'em, right?
And the propaganda. Small team to design with some mass printing done easily and cheaply these days. Not like they had to pay postage.
The core issue here is I suspect this is all being perceived as a type of hostage situation. And they don't want to set a precedent. In fact, I'm sure that train of thought is the one that will be pitched to the other shareholders. The biggies. The ones they really care about.

Surely, if they thought they could impede the democratic process that easily, they would not have wasted the hundreds of thousands of pounds on the relentless propaganda they threw at us for months, in order to brainwash us in to accepting their nightmare proposals?

The propaganda was an attempt to castrate the union and undermine its negotiating position, I think they truly believed that they could engineer a no vote or at least a weak mandate and low turnout. It comes from a complete disengagement from the shop floor, their managers have been lying to them for years about what goes on at the frontline.
The legal challenge is a desperate attempt to reassert some authority in the negotiations but to be honest that ship has sailed, If they get their injunction the union won't have to worry about calling another strike, they'll have enough to do trying to keep wildcat strikes from snowballing into a complete national walkout. If members are denied their democratic rights by a bunch of lawyers the whole business will spend Christmas like gas bottle on a campfire.

Yes, I'm afraid the only way RM can avoid massive wildcat strikes and 'illegal' walkouts is to get back to the negotiations with the union.
When 90% of the voters say something, just telling them that their opinion is invalidated is only going to increase their determination and also their support - such as what has recently happened in Spain.
