If it were that simple to do our job, then they'd sack us all and get Agency staff in on the minimum wage. But it's a hard job that requires stamina, skill and knowledge.

Missorts, Misdeliveries, the rates of error will soar as will the complaints.

We have already got our Angard staff in place! , As I have recently posted on another thread.

Agency workers are also employed continually contrary to the agenda for growth legal agreement which states;

(D) Agency workers are intended to cover short term or
unforeseen resourcing needs, expected to last for periods of
no more than 12 weeks, which cannot be covered by offering
additional hours to existing employees whilst maintaining
quality of service. In the rare circumstances that employment
exceeds 12 weeks the provisions of the Agency Workers
Regulations 2010 (as amended) will apply

I have never understood why this situation is allowed to continue whereby those part -timers are fulfilling the obligation set out in the Agenda for growth, But are also working along side semi-permanent agency staff.

I wouldn't worry about it. RM are full of it... they lose tens of thousands of pounds a day plus customers they never get back for every single day of strike action. Agency staff, dressing up managers in operational grade uniforms and putting them in callers offices or out on delivery doesn't fool anyone apart from thick morons who don't know the score. RM are absolutely crapping it and have shown their hand already... they are so transparent it's embarrassing. The fat cats know the holidays are over along with their huge not earned bonus payments.

You are absolutely wrong bitterpill(ock)... this is nothing to do with simply getting us down to £7.50 an hour ...

We are a treasured, valuable and highly knowledgeable(skilled) workforce dedicated in our service to the public.. we know it, the company knows it and the public (the postie's customers) know it,,,, we are simply 'most trusted' ...

For RM this is about maximising efficiency primarily through increasing the volumes and access times in our processing and logistics pipeline... the knock-on being massive changes to people's lives (customers and workforce alike)...

This needs to be more carefully and thoughtfully negotiated and that imo is what we are protesting about ... aside of course from massive down scaling of people's pensions which could be argued is perhaps a differnt issue but very much part of the overall 'four pillars' campaign that we are supporting...

You have a strangely simplistic opinion of us bp... I suspect you have possibly been bullied in the past and perhaps need help??

My guess is this an attempt to prepare for damage limitation. I can't see that they will be able to offer a full service if industrial action is taken. Perhaps they are just looking at trying to keep on top of packets at certain locations....

As far as I'm aware using agency staff during strike action is unlawful. They will probably be used on the days we go back to try and help with the backlog.
