Rotating day off

Hi everyone. Im starting my induction tomorrow then tuesday ill be at my local sorting office. Ive been looking through my notes from the interview and ive some questions i didnt ask at the interview, hopefully you can help.
Im contracted 24 hour week, monday thursday friday and saturday with a rotating day off, could some explain how the rotating day off works?
Do you still get paid on that specific rotating day off?
Also will i be doing 5/6 day aweek while training? Just im not contracted to do tuesdays but my first day is a tuesday?

Here's how it'll work. Hopefully you'll get put with the workplace coach and shadow him up until Friday, and you'll get Saturday as your dayoff this week.

Next week you'll be out delivering on your own, in a van share, but maybe not.

From there on, you're basically gonna get asked to work beyond your contracted hours, come in early, work your day off etc. Make sure you record all hours on the overtime sheet, and for your own records, and make sure you get paid.

PS. a rotating day off in the traditional sense is Week 1 Monday, Week 2 Tuesday etc. but only those on a set walk on fulltime hours generally get that. If you're a reserve you'll get whatever day off in the week is convenient.

Have to agree with Norm I'm afraid. I'm new to the job, description rotating day off - not happened yet and not likely to.

Thank you for that information, it makes more sense now.
In my case could it be week 1 monday off because thats a day ive been told im working then not get a rotating day off till week 4 where im ment to be working the thursday then week 5 friday off etc? I was informed it was part time 24 hour contract. Will i be guaranteed at least 24 hours a week with the rotating day? I dont mind getting stuck in and working extra hours just needed to know where i stand. Cheers

Looks like you will be off Tuesday and/or Wednesday every week!

Here we go! A new starter on a weird contract!!

Tuesdays and Wednesdays off and possibly permanently working on Saturdays. I will not hold my breadth on getting a rotating Saturday off; it is hard enough getting that as a Reserve of many years service.

24 hours contract!!!

If you are a football fan Ads85 don't expect every 6th Saturday off

You may make the occasional Sun lunchtime kick off {well at least at the moment]

Looks to me as though they didn't adjust the standard job application description to reflect a 4 day attendance pattern, I'd guess that the job advertised was 4 days per week 24 hrs with every Tues/weds off so no rotation, however as per other replies you may find that they ask you to attend different days/more days (on over time) with a different day off.

Tuesday is the lightest day for mail, Monday is the next lightest day. Saturdays are hard for the RM to get fully manned.

On a rotating day off, you are likely to have every Tuesday off and work every Saturday.

Unless you get onto the Walmington System: the Union must file a formal grievance to get you on the Walmington system, don't ask the Manager for it because the Manager will not want you on it.

wait can individuals go onto other systems in a office where there a 9 day fornite? or a 5day week? is it not entire office based or individual preference?
