Royal Mail's Vision For The Future

We all know what RM want in the short term, poorer conditions for us, more profit for them, but what exactly are their long term aims?
Say ten or twenty years down the line, what can those poor sods left working for RM expect?

As I see it, come September 2037 we'll have a part time workforce working 14.00 to 20.00, five days a week, for minimum wage, no paid breaks, enforced unpaid overtime, no bonuses, no sick pay, at will sackings, temp contracts, terrible pension scheme, heck, you'll probably have to pay for your own diesel for your own rented van.

Have I missed anything out?

A lot of talk right now about how good we have it compared to others, well, fight for what we have now, because soon enough we'll be the others.

Well said, straight to the point. We got the pension, holiday and sick pay because previous postmen and postwomen fought as a union for them. Don't let them take these improved terms easily.

20 Yrs down the line with technological improvement , things that can't be 3D printed will come via automated driverless drones or pods

You'll have bought the privilege of doing the round from RM (so you'll need to arrange sick and holiday cover out of your own pocket, obviously) and they won't pay you by the hour any more but by the item, different rates for different items.

Their machines will calculate the letters, parcels, and leaflets on your route and you will be paid accordingly. The machines are infallible at counting, just as they are at sequencing.

LOL - I had a sequenced letter for a similar-sounding town in USA today - it was totally correctly addressed, even with airmail sticker on and everything as it should be.

We'll probably end up replaced with autonomus quadruped robot, like the DARPA Big Dog.

Although knowing Royal Mail they'll cut costs by having two OPGs dressed up as one instead:

CSS machines go on the orange barcode printed on them so if it's been sequenced to your walk incorrectly it's down to the IMP or iLSM coding it wrong at the outward MC. My gut feeling is that the outward MC uses IMPs

Woah. No offence dude but that's too many nerdy acronyms for a walking Joe like me. It says Georgetown USA when I deliver to Gorgeous Town UK - I just bung it in the missorts pile - and there's a big one just from the sequenced!

The words "Royal Mail" and "vision for the future", are a complete contradiction, theydon't have a long term vision, it's short termism , that is the order of the day, maximise profits for shareholders. I suspect what will happen is that the business will be bought by a Hedge Fund,who will ruthlessly asset strip, hike prices and run down the workforce,so they are all zero hours contracts, or part time at best.
Hedge funds bought businesses like the AA and they are now terrible for their core customer

There will soon be no Royal Mail,it will be destroyed by those at the top who think they know best,the company will implode on itself and in no way will it be the posties fault,they are the hardworkers and the face of Royal Mail always have been.

iLSMs and IMPs are the larger letter sorting machines that get used in MCs.

The A+ isn't hardware really, it's basically a huge database of delivery points, if the entries in it for your walk are either wrong or out of date, that'll probably be why your getting many missorts. The people who compile the sort plans use the A+ data when compiling them. The IMPs and iLSMs then use the sort plans to know which stackers (outputs) to sort letters to
