the audacity of their propaganda on RMtv as well. ''voting no is the only way to get Terry Pullinger back to meaningful negotiations'' !!! SHE'S never showed her face at ANY of the negotiations. the sheer brassneck of them is beyond belief.

Has Dave Ward?
Certainly Billy never did. It wasn't his job.

I think to be fair I think Dave's ill, I don't really think it's a relevant comparison anyway, the role of GS is mainly a political one whereas the role of CEO is one of oversight. Do her underlings have the power to make decisions without consulting her? I seriously doubt it in which case she should be there if only to speed up the process.

If Mr Ward's illness was preventing him from being at the talks then his deputy would take his place. Tony Kearns isn't it? How many CWU members could pick him out of a line up?
Is he there? But you are right his role is largely political. Though Mr Ward does have a lot of experience at negotiating national agreements.
I'm not sure how Moya's presence would make any difference in the modern age. It isn't as if, after a round of discussions, they need to dispatch someone on a donkey to find out her thoughts on the latest proposals. And then wait until the donkey returns before they can proceed.

The whole "missing Moya" is a nonsense,
Who cares if she is there or not.

From what I'm hearing there seems to be an issue with Royal Mail negotiators agreeing one thing just for it to be vetoed by senior management, this wouldn't happen if Moya was in the room, I'm not saying the outcome would be different but at least it would speed up the process. The length of time these talks have been dragging on with no apparent progress is embarrassing.

Of course it could all just be a jolly spiffing wheeze to those involved but watching adults act like children should really be confined to Saturday morning TV shows and even then only with safeguards in place.

Vetoed by Moya or other nameless, faceless senior managers?
Surely the negotiators would have a framework they know they can work within? The idea they are agreeing to stuff and then going back on it seems a bit fanciful.
Have they sent their B team in to the negotiations? If that was the case you'd have to ask why?

It's not really a pension of £200,000 though, it's a £200,000 cash payment per annum in lieu of a pension. The Senior management pension scheme is closed to new entrants not that CEOs usually hang around long enough to make pension contributions worthwhile.

Fishtank,
Now there's an idea, a £200,000 cash payment per annum in lieu of a pension and Royal Mail would probably get their "no" vote. :Applause :thumbup :cuppa

Dave is ok now but Terry Pullinger is the lead negotiator for the CWU who can reach agreement with his feeliw offices.

The problem is Royal Mail's team led by Mike Newby cannot and have to take breaks to get instructions.

For example Moyà Greene attended the Streatham Delivery Office in London to address the members of staff and she got an hard time on stopping sick pay for the first 3 days , legacy payments being voluntary and monthly pay and she said she would take them off the table but she had not told her negotiators at the time and they had to go on a conference call and be told to move on the issues. This is no way to run Talks.

Whilst there maybe a case for Moyà not too come into the talks , there is no justification for Sue Whalley and the designer of Royal Mail's strategy on the Pipeline Steve Cameron not being in the talks.

How can you really have meaningful negoatiations when only one side can reach an agreement and the other side keep on having adjournments too seek authority on next steps. Surely those who provide that authority should be in the talks ?

£10,000 of the 200,000 was paid into dc plan and rest in cash, what worries me more is the £10 million each year being paid to make up the deficit in executive pension fund.

Perhaps they should have given her a hard time over the pension proposals, the possible changes to the pipeline, the lack of a proper wage rise and the lack of any serious movement to a 35 hour week.
Or maybe the St. Reatham Delivery Office should be in the talks instead of Terry et al?

Incidentally it has gone very quiet on the 35 hour week. Is it only 3 pillars now?

Moya Greene, or the person that writes for her, seems to miss the first two words off each sentence. I have never seen anything like this before in these be scared letters they keep sending out. When she learns to write English I may begin to listen.
