Fleet delivery office is celebrating successfully completing the first phase of the One Plan programme.

Fleet started its One Plan journey in April and was audited for Basic Skills and Standards last month.

‘We have set standards in terms of making sure that people sign in and out, for example,’ explained Michael Curlis, delivery office manager.

‘Instead of areas where it is a little bit untidy in the office, or communications are weaker than they could be, we’ve made changes. One Plan provides substance to make improvements.’

Fleet colleagues now hold a daily huddle for regular team updates and apply standards in terms of colleagues wearing correct uniform.

‘We are making it clear what Royal Mail standards are. Much of One Plan is common sense,’ said Michael.

The passing of Basic Skills and Standards involved a lot of work by frontline colleagues, management and workplace coaches. They are now looking forward to moving on to the next phase.

Postman David Weare added: ‘There are definitely benefits to One Plan. We know what the targets are and can work towards them with help from workplace coaches.

‘We know exactly where everything is in the office and how we work on the frames.’

One day they will ask someone who is about to leave or honest and they will tell them it's the biggest load of tripe they've ever seen but they wouldn't print it anyway!

Don't you just love all this positivity about every idea the pencil pushers who have no idea about the actual job come up with!

Yet step in a delivery office and talk honestly between bosses,postman etc and they all say the same change for the sake of it's nearly always for the worst including staff and customers!

Plus the amount of money that gets wasted on it all to create jobs for people where there are no jobs.. I'm world class mail area manager I basically do nothing and earn 60k

We had the One Plan ages ago as we are a `problem` office.
He fecked about for months on end...you know coming in for 2 days a week at first ,then just 1 day a week, but never once did he come in on a Saturday.
Most of the time he was seen with a coffee cup and sat on his arse in the managers office, but this 2 day week, then 1 day week he was always out of the building by 12,especially on a Friday.
He's been gone a few months now and I can honestly say he made feck all difference to how our office runs.

Oh and I put in a grievance about him as well. For f***ing up how the redirections are done.

Does anyone know if the One Plan includes Royal Mail providing each office with their own jack/wheel brace, or will our workplace coach have to continue using his own to change a tyre Managers dread his annual leave weeks

Any manager that manages, and that's what they're paid for, should be able to instigate signing in and out, tidy up an area and improve communications without needing a "One Plan" to instigate any slight change.

Does the jack ass use his own torque wrench as well?

Nope, it can take up to a week between his wheel change and a mechanic to come and check it's on tight enough

Are the employees in Fleet REALLY "celebrating". This One Plan, and the information releases surrounding it, have got to be a wind-up. This company, according to senior management, is on the bones of its arse to the extent that we all (except them) have to take a 30% hit on our pensions and yet they sanction wasting God knows how much money on staff who instruct us to sign on properly, re-use rubber bands, keep our frames tidy, deliver SDs before 1pm etc....DOMS and line-managers should be routinely doing this anyway. Whatever happened to World Class Mail?

But surely "World Class Mail" was no different from "One Plan" a costly doomed alternative to managers managing.
