Why do all of Royal Mail pension illustraions tell how much somebody on £25k a year would get?
How many posties are on £25k pensionable pay?

It's a deliberate ploy to make you think the new scheme/s are better than they really are!

Like I said "how many posties are on £25k pensionable pay" I am pretty sure the majority are nowhere near this. Is London weighting pensionable??

There is no separate London weighting.
It is included in the pay.

There are lots of people earning more than 25k pensionable pay don forget a lot of people work nights then there are the mgv drivers then logistics drivers also all the managers are in the same pension

The point is that most OPGs don't and therefore this little brochure means nothing to them.

Why do you mention managers f::k all to do with postal grades they can fight their own corner (no chance of them ever going on strike)

The reason I mention managers is because the pension illustration is applicable to everyone in it I'm just answering the question why it's 25k

would say at least 90% of opgs are on less than 25k so why put managers in line with them. also already said managers can fight their own corner in their recent consultation ballot on pensions 28% turnout says it all seriously hope the cwu ballot returns at least 90% with majority voting YES

The illustration should cater for the majority. There are only about 6000 postmen/women hgv drivers, but a hell of a lot more in delivery, rdc's and mail centre's.
Looking at the illustration shows how poor the proposed db pension is and I mean POOR.
The best way to work it out for myself, to see how poor it is, is to take a postman (hgv) who started Royal Mail just before the changes in 2008 and is in the current CARE db scheme.
He/she will have 10 years service next april, but stands to loose £9300 a year by going into Royal Mail's proposed cash balance db scheme.
This is massive and hopefully shows people with little service, what could be gained by getting anywhere close to the CWU'S, WINRS scheme.

It's just an illustration as there are many variables.
What worries me about this is that it appears to have come from HR, something called the My Pension Review Team, not the pensions trust board, and is yet again another scare tactic. Half way down the very first page it warns if IA is taken then the Company may be forced to withdraw the offer. What's that again, oh yes a £1200 reduction from what we were due originally, only in their eyes it is an increase on what they were proposing. Smoke and Mirrors again.

Do we want to or can we afford a £1200 reduction on our pension? I am terrified for the future on the path we are going.

We found out recently that there are only 10,000 ish London posties in the business, so including us in the 'average postie' pay to inflate it is bollox!
