If someone was on a 12 hour contract, Mondays and Saturdays every week.
Would they get all the bank holiday Mondays off?
Union rep says yes, manager says no.

No that would be ridiculous.
They are entitled to 40% of the bank holiday credit because they work 2 days rather than 5.

Surely the office would still be closed on the bank holidays though? And if their contract specifies Monday & Saturday then surely they can't be forced to change days to allow for the bank holidays and they also can't not be paid for them. Would it not then only affect lieu day accumulation?fishtank wrote:No that would be ridiculous.

Do you think someone who works 2 days a week should get the equivalent of 4 weeks holiday a year just as bank holidays?Newbie001 wrote:What stupid manager thought that would be a good idea.
The adjustment can be made either by working an alternative attendance the week of the bank holiday or through an adjustment in annual leave entitlement. The Postman wrote:Surely the office would still be closed on the bank holidays though? Never said they should. But you would have to be foolish not to think it wouldn't cause issues in the long term. If it's in their contract then don't think RM can make them work an alternative day or even cut their hours. You would think the only way round it would be to reduce the annual leave hours. Could be wrong though. Easiest way would be not to have such a silly contract.fishtank wrote:Do you think someone who works 2 days a week should get the equivalent of 4 weeks holiday a year just as bank holidays.Newbie001 wrote:What stupid manager thought that would be a good idea.

I had a member once who moved from full-time to Saturday only, he was adamant that he should still get 30 days annual leave and 8 bank holidays...that would meant he only worked 14 days a year.
