Hello anyone know if manager can refuse union release or refuse to pay for time if one's duty is on their duty day off ?
Or is the union supposed to fund this please ?
Thanks

Just get your Area rep or Branch Secretary to talk to him.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Our Rep had same issues so reported problem of release for official union business to Branch.
DOM backed down after IR agreement chapter and verse quoted at him in writing by our Rep then.
Like previous post the DOM and DSM's know our rules but try to ignore them until challenged.

Hello I have received a response from my manager quoting the following from HR :
here are two types of union leave, paid and unpaid:
● Paid leave - to carry out joint industrial relations work, and attend approved training courses
● Unpaid leave - to undertake activities related to the organisation of the union
Employees should also normally submit a leave request two weeks in advance.
I’d advise if it was to undertake normal activities it would be taken as unpaid. If it is classed as approved paid leave then he should be able to reclaim the Toil for the time taken or be paid at his normal pay rate.
Manager has indicated its unpaid leave . Is this correct ?
if it is then I cannot believe all local reps attend these meetings without pay ?
anyone enlighten on this please thanks .

They don't. If its 'Paid Leave' RM foot the bill. If its 'Unpaid Leave' the union foot the bill and reimburse RM (who pay you as normal)rks wrote: Manager has indicated its unpaid leave . Is this correct ?
