SPECIAL BULLETIN
A MESSAGE FROM THE DGSP

You will have received from Friday evening onwards communications from Moya Greene, Chief Executive, Royal Mail Group.

There are two messages: one is the normal threat-centered message which typifies the bullying management style which has become so common in the workplace and which seeks to scare you into not supporting your union. The other is what can only be loosely described as a new pay offer.

Having just arranged for more meetings with the business on Thursday and Friday next week we were shocked at the public release of a new pay offer rather than it being tabled in the talks next week.

Clearly this is an act that will undermine the negotiating process and demonstrate the total lack of class and professionalism of those leading Royal Mail.

They even undermine the integrity of the people they have put forward to negotiate as the offer is published to you via Moya Greene who has been nowhere near the talks.

Nothing changes for us, the so called new offer still does not provide you with a proper and much deserved pay rise, it is still designed around a one off lump sum payment and ‘jam’ tomorrow depending on us agreeing a number of things.

We will clarify the full details of the offer next week but in the meantime please recognise that this is an act of desperation from management because they know the support we have and also shows the same lack of imagination which is driving this business in the wrong direction.

Keep your eye on the prize, do not be distracted by this nonsense, treat their communication with the contempt it deserves and keep supporting your union loud and proud.

RM (mis)management are clearly running scared and they know that their facile propaganda is not permeating though to the front line; the undercurrent of uncertainty and discontent throughout the service is palpable. I'm expecting a rain of dead cats in the intermediate time right up until inevitable industrial action in whatever form that takes. Tough sh*t Moya.

No doubt Moya will get a golden handshake, and a large lump sum before she swans off to Easyjet, no matter the outcome of the strike!

Didn't Moya jump ship from Canada Post after she shafted the workers with the same T/C we are seeing now.
I mentioned this when she was appointed and the truth is coming out.Seen as a saint by some higher management she makes her money and rides off into the sunset.
Our pensions,T/C, no pay rise but carrots are all we are worth to these people and monthly pay was a smokescreen to cut admin and not pay us o/t as we would have to cover all deliveries under their new way of working eg. 5/6 in a group covering all absence, holidays etc for no o/t and starting later, finishing around 4/5 in the evening not to mention longs and shorts so imagine working at Christmas until who knows when

It would be like the old days at Christmas when we manually sorted for ages before going out until dark o'clock. how is that a improvement for the customer? It's not it's only about profit for shareholders and we are being shafted now and we will be forever if we don't send back A BIG FAT YES as Cowel would say.

You know the score, along comes a dispute and bullying is an issue, along comes an agreement and bullying was just a misunderstanding with rogue managers and really just an issue between staff.

We've got the full set of feckin T- shirts....been on tour longer than the Stones that one.

It will be interesting to see just what gets agreed to, either before or after any Industrial Action. How many of these demands do think RM have put up there as a scare tactic? Willing to give up nearly all of them in any negotiations and hoping to get away with just slipping a few through?

IF there hadn't been such a show of strength from Union Members, albeit without an official ballot, I'm sure RM would have been very happy to bulldozer all their demands through.

I'm sure that now they'll have to settle for less but what are the CWU willing to agree on? I really hope RM will take on board the CWU's suggestions concerning our pensions.

You can muck around with many things in a workers life put to pull the rug out from beneath them just as they're finishing a life time of toil is despicable!
