Two offices in Leicester are celebrating a successful audit under the One Plan programme.
Leicester South delivery office and Leicester mail processing unit (MPU) have reached the final phases of One Plan – and say they are reaping the benefits of the programme already.
One Plan is a system of work packages that support colleagues and ensure we comply with national standards. Leicester South and Leicester MPU are on the Indoor Optimisation phase, having successfully passed Basic Skills and Standards and Workplace Management.
Delivery office managers Shahbaaz Khan at the MPU and Jon Reid at Leicester South have been instrumental in delivering the programme. Shahbaaz said: ‘This is a large plant – we have six different offices under one roof – so we had to take a step back and look at delivering One Plan for each division.’
Shahbaaz and his team first worked through Basic Skills and Standards, passing the audit for this strand at 90%. Next came the audit for Workplace Management. Benefits have included fewer wasted hours, the introduction of a successful portering system, and less movement on the delivery office floor. This has all been achieved since the turn of the year. The team is now set to tackle achieving Delivery Excellence; and Advanced Continuous Improvement.
Pearl Howard, Leicester workplace coach, said One Plan has been ‘very supportive’ of Leicester’s efforts. ‘The One Plan team can be contacted at any time. You go through the gateways and levels, with targets to reach. We have consistency now,’ she said.
Shahbaaz added: ‘It is good for colleagues to have common rules and procedures to adhere to. We are now one of the country’s outstanding offices.’
