Heard a rumour today we are getting the amazon contract back...any truth?!

We've never stopped delivering Amazon stuff in my office, and the amounts of it are ever increasing.

We keep getting unfavourably compared by our Gestapo to other offices in our delivery sector that lapse more, don't book as much overtime etc, but which also don't have 40-50 small(ish) and 15-20 large Amazon parcels per shared van to deliver each day. Just another form of bullying that's all in a days work to them.

We've also been delivering a few Amazon packets since we lost the contract. I know the "Amazon Man" and it amuses me that he's in the same area and I've still got Amazon packets.

We got loads of Amazon Last Christmas, I presume their system couldn't handle the amount of orders? It would have been nice to be able to tell them to Stick It but then they're just a customer, like everyone else.

If we do get the contract back I hope the Bright Lads in Sales (or whatever department deal with that sort of thing) hammered out a better deal than last time....... After all I presume their postage is Tax Deductible?

We get a lot of 'scanned delivered' Amazon packets,they're usually slim and will go through letter box. Royal Mail keep tabs on these now too as RM don't get paid out if there is no record of delivery.

Amazon delivery are concentrating on their same day and next day service ( quite right, it's the future of delivery ) as well as their new grocery delivery business, we'll get anything that isn't time sensitive ( not the future of delivery ).

It's not really.
The future of cheaper deliveries is a subscription based service like Amazon Prime and/or the sender/business absorbing the cost ( adding it to the unit price ) like boohoo/Next/John Lewis etc and collection point delivery. The only markets we are dominating and growing are people to people delivery like eBay and international deliveries from China etc. Just look at where our only guaranteed next day service has gone.

Amazon deliveries are totally region dependant. At least half of my packets a day are Amazon. It is the very reason I haven't been able to absorb extra work all summer. Mail volume dropped off but Amazon does not....ever.

I still get plenty of smaller Amazon stuff with the cardboard somehow deliberately folded over half of the barcode so that it doesn't scan on sight. So the only way you can scan the item is by opening the item - and by opening the item we run the risk of the customer complaining and giving us a bad reputation.

Personally, I think that we should be refusing these items and send them back to Amazon for them to do their job properly and pack it properly with the barcode clearly showing, without having to modify it in any way.

Some of the Amazon small packets you can see right through at the ends and some of these are Specials.
I always photograph them on my phone to cover my ar5e.

Despite having a huge Amazon depot built near our town, we still get as much packets from them as we ever have, although I think there may be some kind of filtration process going on, where we deliver all the ones to go through the door, whereas the couriers get the over-sized, making sure they get rid of the packet for their pay.
