Forced Increase in Contract Hours

Post by thelittlesthobo »

The duties in our office are undergoing changes (trying poorly to even up the time it takes to deliver each duty). A suggestion put forward was that I move from my current 32-hour, 4-Day week to a 35-hour 5-Day week (taking on an extra duty on the 5th day) - can management change my duty and force me to work that 5th day or can I refuse and stay on my current working arrangement?

they can't force you but if you refuse and there are no duties that match your hours you could be asked to move somewhere that can accommodate you.

No they can not force increase hours upon you but they may pull you off your current duty or ask you to do 32 hours over 5 days.
Tell them 4 days is all you can do due to family commitments and wait for a response.

I would imagine they'll just get awkward and tell you that you have to go on to 5 days but start later than you do now.

do you have paperwork for your current working agreement? that is to say is this for a family friendly attendance or capability issues.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP
